Well worth a visit – excellent exam[ple of Spanish Colonia; defensive military architecture. • Be prepared to walk around the castle and also not be afraid of the 1.5 kms amble across the bridge to its entrance when coming from the Walled City part of town. • IF really hot, however, make sure to have water and a hat...!!
There is a $10 Pesos fee to pay to tour around the castle for those who are international; children are free under a certain age and locals only pay $5 pesos. My friend and I did our own tour around the castle, some of the land is steep and I recommend you get a map as the castle is huge. There are also many tunnels inside the castle, it's really dark inside (built this way purposely) so make sure you pay attention to where you are headed and have your flashlight ready. Other wise, very cool tour, learned a lot about the history of the 300 old castle.
San Felipe de Barajas Castle was great. Very nice to go up to the highest point and see the whole city.
