Old Course Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The room was absolutely beautiful. Check-in was smooth and the check-in team was so lovely and helpful. We ordered room service, and they were so prompt and lovely. We enjoyed some food at the Jigger Inn and the staff there were also really amazing. One particular member of staff was a champ at helping us pay for a bill for a table of 12 people. They also accommodated my husband’s allergies and were really top notch about it. We got to St. Andrew’s by way of train, we pulled in to the Luechers train stop and then took the bus to St. Andrews, the bus stops directly at a bus stop right down the road from the hotel, and it was a 2 minute walk to the hotel."

THE SPACE TO STAY APARTHOTEL

10/10 Excellent
"All areas of the accommodation were clean, the only problem we had was the door to the outside area was broken and we could not access this, which was a pity as it would have been nice to sit outside as the weather was excellent. Everything else down to the staff was great, a super place to stay, although it was impossible to get Uber or a Taxi into town, luckily we had a friend who lived in town and he rescued us, there is a bus which goes into town 6minutes past the hour outside the apartments."

"We only stayed the 1 night, but it was such a pleasant surprise. Overall the property is amazing and the best part is the staff. Pippa was amazing, she took care of any request we had from taxi bookings (multiple times) and just taking care of us overall, we never had a moment of stress, thank you Pippa. Roy at the bar was amazing and super knowledgeable about all the scotches and Whiskey they had on the properties and he is a great conversationalist. We will definitely be back."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Cellardyke?
For most visitors, the best area to stay in Cellardyke is along the waterfront, particularly around the historic harbour and Shore Street. This area is the heart of Cellardyke, known for its picturesque traditional fishing cottages, many of which have been beautifully restored. It's very walkable, offering scenic views of the Firth of Forth and the small, working harbour. Shore Street runs parallel to the water, connecting the harbour area with the neighboring town of Anstruther, providing easy access to more amenities.Couples often find this area ideal for a quiet and romantic escape. The charming cottages, the sound of the sea, and the proximity to coastal walks create a relaxing environment. Many properties here offer direct sea views, enhancing the tranquil experience.Families will also appreciate the waterfront area for its relaxed pace and easy access to the Fife Coastal Path, which is great for strolls and exploring rock pools at low tide.
When is the best time to go to Cellardyke?
The best time to go to Cellardyke is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is mildest and the days are longer.During this period, you'll experience the most pleasant conditions for exploring the Fife Coastal Path and enjoying the picturesque harbor. The temperatures are generally comfortable for outdoor activities, averaging around 15-20°C (59-68°F), and there's less chance of rain compared to other times of the year. This makes it an excellent time for couples who enjoy coastal walks and exploring charming fishing villages without the chill of winter.Families will also appreciate the summer months, especially July and August, when local attractions and events are in full swing. The longer daylight hours mean more time for children to play on the beaches or explore rock pools, and the sea temperatures are at their warmest for those brave enough to dip their toes in.
