Stop by the nearby Swordfish Harpooner Sculpture to take a memorable photo, visit any of the nearby fish markets to buy some local produce to cook later, dine at any of the quaint local restaurants, or spend the day beachcombing and sunbathing at Menemsha Public Beach. Since the beach is so close to home, feel free to use the beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels available. In addition, there are two kayaks if you feel like exploring the nearby pond. This splendid home away from home features a spacious and private backyard, which makes this the ultimate quintessential Vineyard retreat! The deck offers a great spot to admire the water views of the Menemsha Channel and Vineyard Sound, dine alfresco at the outdoor dining table with an umbrella, and host summertime cookouts using the gas grill provided. As you enter this home, you are first greeted by a cozy living room, furnished with quaint and comfortable sofas throughout and a smart TV with streaming and cable services to keep you entertained during your stay. The well-appointed, eat-in kitchen is complete with all the major appliances needed to prepare culinary masterpieces with all the local produce you have bought nearby! Attached to the kitchen is a laundry room/pantry with a washer/dryer. This level also hosts a sunny bedroom. The other two bedrooms are located upstairs, featuring partial AC window units. THINGS TO KNOW The dryer is small, so please be sure not to overload it. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 4 vehicles. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). Jun 5, 2024 #### Perfect Menemsha Getaway I was hesitant to stay because there were no reviews for Wayside Camp, but I am so glad we took the chance. The cottage had the perfect rustic charm you want when staying up island. The location was perfect for exploring with plenty of parking. Everything you need except your food was provided, even amenities like beach chairs, toys and games, and a brand new bbq grill. The kitchen was charming, but functioned well for our family. The sheets and towels were great quality and the beds were comfortable. The claw door tub and nice deck furnishings made for relaxation all day. We wish we could stay all summer. ##### NICOLE P. Sep 11, 2024 #### Dismissive Service The location is convenient, but the positives end there. I’m not sure if we should blame Vacasa customer support or the owner, but we had two very basic requests: laundry detergent (a must when traveling with small children) and working smoke detectors—the place had NO WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS (dead batteries)! When I contacted customer support they asked us to look for batteries and detergent, and we explained there were none. They then said someone would bring by replacement batteries (because in Massachusetts it’s illegal to not have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors), but nobody ever came. This is truly a dangerous situation, it violates MA fire safety laws. But Vacasa doesn’t care about renter safety, or following the law. The talk about having on-site support staff for renter issues is clearly a lie—it shouldn’t have been difficult to have someone drop off detergent and batteries. House was spacious and had everything needed, but for fridge that wasn’t working and washing machine that we couldn’t figure out how to work. Great food options all within a few minutes walk from the house.
