A cultural landmark since 1963, Cinerama is considered Seattle’s premier movie theater. Visit Cinerama in Belltown for its blockbuster, first-run movies, as well as many film festivals, from science fiction to 70mm. While the theater celebrates its history, it also offers a thoroughly modern movie-going experience. Those who value the technology behind film operations will appreciate the theater’s capabilities, including digital laser projections, 3-D movies, surround sound and Cinerama films on a 97-foot (30-meter) curved screen. Movies of all formats can be shown at Cinerama, including original three-strip Cinerama films, 2-D and 3-D movies and classic 35mm and 70mm reels.
As part of the Cinerama movie experience, guests have the chance to check out original costumes from Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner and Batman movies. There are rotating historical movie-based exhibits in the lobby, all from the Paul G. Allen Family Collection. Get to Seattle Cinerama by bus, car, the Seattle Streetcar or monorail. Parking is recommended at a nearby hotel lot and public parking garages. Use Seattle’s E-Park Website to determine availability of spots. Alternatively, avoid traffic and walk to Cinerama in just 10 minutes from the Pike Place Market or 15 minutes from the Space Needle.
