Coast Guard Beach is one of the major beaches in North Truro. Yet it remains just far enough off the beaten track to offer a slice of exclusivity on the ever-popular Cape Cod. Spend a relaxing day sunbathing on the shore or bring a board and try surfing the waves.

The stretch of coast was once known for its perilous waters and shipwrecks, but it is now more famous as a vacation destination. Coast Guard Beach is one of 11 beaches in Truro and it tends to not get overcrowded. Enjoy a quiet and relaxing beach day at this perfect spot.

Get to the beach early to watch the sunrise. The beach is noted for its beautiful views at this hour. Bring a camera to capture the spectacle.

Kick off your shoes and walk barefoot along the silvery sands of the beach, taking in the postcard-worthy vistas of sand and sea. The beach faces out directly to the ocean instead of the bay, giving you an excellent opportunity to admire the Atlantic waves as they roll in. Be sure to check out the towering sand dunes that border the beach as well.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, enter the water. Surfers and swimmers frequent this beach and lifeguards are on duty during the summer. While you are here, you may also want to stop at the nearby Highland Lighthouse. This lighthouse is known for being the highest and oldest on Cape Cod. Its lofty tower offers visitors even more amazing views of the ocean.

Coast Guard Beach is a 30-minute drive from North Truro. There is limited parking and, during peak season, you’ll have to purchase a Truro Beach Parking Sticker. Disabled parking is also available.

Beautiful place, the lighthouse and attached structures are very well preserve. The surroundings are gorgeous too and, if you arrive between noon and 3:30 pm you can climb the lighthouse tower and have a panoramic view of the place. Very recommended.
