"We had a great week here in August. Large garden, lots of parking and many beaches within 30 minutes. You can walk into town along the river to get bread in the morning. The staircase to the upper floor begins in the master bedroom; we didn't mind this but some might. The owners live nearby and were very helpful. I would describe the style as shabby chic."

"This was a great stay! It was luxurious to have so much space! Conveniently located to all the attractions in Amboise, and a winery a literal stone’s throw away. "Just returned from a wonderful stay at Chez Mathilde near Verdun. Annie, our host, was absolutely lovely — so welcoming and friendly, and she even treated us to delicious homemade goodies. The house itself was amazing, full of character with beautiful traditional features and immaculate furnishings throughout. It really felt like a home away from home. The area is fantastic too, with so much history to explore, especially the WWI sites nearby. We’d highly recommend Chez Mathilde to anyone...
