"A fairly remote location, perfect for exploring Yamanaka with great nearby views of Mount Fuji. Excellent price for the quality of amenities. The check in/out process were well optimized for the autonomous travellers, and the interactions I did have with staff were cordial and friendly."

That’s a more authentic review if the food wasn’t actually a highlight for your family:
We stayed at Shiunso Ryokan as a family with two young children and overall had a pleasant experience.
The ryokan is definitely an older property and shows its age in some areas, but it has a traditional atmosphere that many travelers may appreciate. The staff were welcoming, and the stay gave us an opportunity to experience a classic Japanese ryokan.

I had a great stay at megu fuji. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were very cozy and clean. On the rooftop you can see Mt . Fuji. Not far from Lake Kawaguchiko where you can also see Mt. Fuji and go shopping in the cute little town.

Easily one of the best hotels I've every stayed at. The staff is courteous, helpful, and very professional. Despite its age, the hotel does not feel old or worn out - I was pleasantly surprised by how well maintained, clean, and neat everything was. The rooms were generously spacious, offered an amazing view of Mt. Fuji in the early morning, and a wonderful view of the bay at night. The hotel is lovely. The room with the Mt.Fuji view was big with a couch & chair from which we could view the mountain to our heart’s content. The shower/bath was large and comfortable. The beds were firm. The room was clean. The staff was accommodating.
Fuji-Q amusement park is next door, but there was no noticeable noise in the hotel.
7-11 is on property. There are multiple options available for food.
Our only complaint is that the transportation options from the rail station were not...

Beautiful property - absolutely breathtaking from the moment you arrive. The staff were super nice and helpful. David who works at the tea bar is also lovely. Amenities are great here and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We never wanted to leave. We got the forest room and it was so nice to wake up to. The public bath was also super clean and nice. Our skin felt great afterwards. Would highly recommend the dinner and breakfast there also. It was a big meal but so delicious.

The hotel was luxury at its finest. The staff was very helpful always always nice. We felt comfortable and never felt like the staff was judging us or trying to make things difficult. Our room was shaking with our own private onsen. That was amazing and a well deserved break in between our Tokyo vacation to just relax.

I loved this hotel, wish I could stay longer. Lovely common areas to relax both indoors and outdoors, free drinks and snacks, alcoholic at night, as well as a lovely array of desserts in the evening. Everyone walking around in their yukatas provided by the hotel gives a very relaxing vibe. I enjoyed both the communal (had it to myself) and private onsens. It was nice that the private pnsen had a window to see nature outside. The outdoor terrace with footbath was also lovely, with...
