Opening onto a clearing in the jungle, Karon View Point provides some of the most iconic vistas of Phuket Island. This tropical vantage point overlooks the Andaman Sea and a range of sandy beaches, making it a popular spot among locals and visitors to the region. Bring your binoculars to spot the array of landmarks that lie beneath you.
The site is known among locals as Khao Saam Haad (Three Beaches Hill), in reference to the trio of bays and hills that divide them within the view. Gaze out at the sparkling water of the Andaman Sea before you. To your right, the panorama extends across vast stretches of sand which make up Karon Beach, Kata Yai Beach and Kata Noi Beach.
See if you can spot your hotel and other favorite sights in the distance. Out on the water, you’ll be able to locate Koh Pu Island. Make out the light blues and the white surf of the sea, which is surrounded by Thailand’s green hilly mountains.
The view point has an elegant layout, crowned by a shiny black plaque with the site’s name in English and Thai. Walk uphill between the colorful floral arrangements and hedges to reach the platform and sit on the white wraparound bench. The central viewing point has a pink stone bench and a roof to shade you from the sun. You can purchase refreshments and food from various vendors around the complex.
Karon View Point is a little inland from the sea, in the southwestern corner of Phuket Island. From central Karon, drive south for 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) to travel here in about 10 minutes. You can drop off your car in the parking lot or on the side of the road. Entrance to the view point is free. While you’re in the area, consider visiting surrounding attractions like Ao Sane Beach, Siam Beach and the Seaview Elephant Camp.
