Cozy Snow Cottage
The perfect little getaway spot! Very convenient and nice looking. Easy to get to with parking right out front. We were able to walk down the street to go snow shoe. There’s even a little market around the corner if needed. Thanks!!

Beautiful Cabin
We had the small cabin booked but they had issues so we were moved to the larger cabin at not additional cost. The cabin is gorgeous and clean. They had snacks out on the counter which was a nice touch. The only down fall was in the middle of the night we ran out of propane leading to no heat it got a bit cold and no way to cook breakfast. When informing the hosts so they knew to drain pipes and get propane delivered I was bummed with no response or apology. We would definitely stay again though.

Great for a quick trip
The host was helpful in getting the heater going while we experiences a fluke snowstorm in June. The wi-if didn’t work which caused some issues because there is no cell reception in town. The amenities matched the description.

Rustic Cabin
We loved this cabin. It’s very rustic, no frills, but perfect for us. We were not looking to spend much time inside. It was a good base camp for exploring the gold rush history, cute town, and the lake.

Great Space, Not Covid Aware
The studio cabin was perfect for myself, my partner, and our dog. It felt fairly recently updated as far as the appliances and the bathroom. WiFi is available as is a TV. It was clean and comfortable, with a little private porch area with outdoor seating. The only downside was that there is no contactless check-in. You have to interact with the manager, who lives on-site in a neighboring cabin, for the key and any specific questions you have. The owner was very quick to respond to my question through the VRBO app, but the response was "Go ask the manager." The manager was very friendly, and he fixed the sink for us immediately when it started to leak, but he did not wear a mask and wasn't really covid aware. Also, a heads up that a large black dog lives with the manager and was often on his front porch on a leash. The dog was friendly to me, but barks at new people and dogs crossing his territory.

Perfect little snow cabin
My husband and I, our 5 and 7 year olds, and our dog had a great visit. The cabin fit us all very comfortably, and the kids had a great time sledding in the back yard and down the road at the nearby snowmobile staging area.

Fantastic Little Cabin
Summary: We love the La Porte area and this cabin is perfect for a short stay. Communication with the caretaker was fantastic (he's in cabin A) and he even took us on a tour of the historic Union Hotel. The cabin was comfortable for a family of 5 and our dog. They also included a dog bed. The room stayed a warm 70 degrees as outside temps dropped to 24 degrees at night. The shower water was warm, and the tile was clean and newly done. Dishes were provided and the kitchen was well supplied with cooking utensils. We'll definitely come back again! Suggestions: Our two young boys (11 & 9) enjoyed the futon but it was a pain to change it back to a couch each day. The wood on mechanism was broken and made it difficult. We also brought a heating blanket for them which helped at night.

Great getaway cabin near Little Grass Valley Reservoir
We rented this cabin on a whim to do something before our children went back to school. It is definitely a “modern” cabin. It had WiFi, TV, shower, kitchen, fridge. The fridge portion didn’t keep things as cold as I would like but the freezer was working fine. The only thing the cabin didn’t have was AC and it definitely warmed up and didn’t cool down quickly at night, but it wasn’t that big a deal. It was almost 90F the days we were there and the caretaker told us that it had a heater bc it’s usually cold there as opposed to hot. It was a tight squeeze for 4 people (2 adults/2 kids) but there was a fold out futon that the kids slept on just fine. Not much room to do much but sit inside, although the wrap around porch and outdoor table and chairs were great to have. We brought our 65lbs dog and he was able to roam around the back of the cabin on a 25ft tie out leash and be content as well. We spent the majority of our time fishing, hiking and swimming at Little Green Valley Reservoir, about 5-10 min away from the cabin. We had no idea what we’d find there but it turned out to be amazing! The lush greenery was great for hiking, and there were so many hidden/secret beaches to find along the way. The water was clear, clean and cool. My husband and son had a great time fishing on the dam side of the reservoir, and there were some breathtaking views to be seen. As an active, adventure seeking family, we couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend this place. We’re already making plans to come back in the winter when it’s snowing to see how different everything will be with the change of weather. The hosts communicated quickly with me, there was a caretaker on site to help with what we needed. And there was even the CUTEST dog named Norman who gave my husband a big hug when we left the cabin. Thanks for a great and memorable trip!
