When you get tired of swimming, kayaking, or basking in the sun on one of Lake George’s many beaches, try your hand at parasailing or go for a cruise on a classic Adirondacks steamboat. You can also fish for trout and bass, but make sure your permit is in order.Historical and Cultural Attractions
In the 17th century, the French and the English struggled bitterly for control of the Adirondacks, and living history performances at Fort William Henry in the town of Lake George make that history come alive. British and French animosity came to a head at the Battle of Lake George, which took place at the Lake George Battlefield, less than a mile away from the Fort. Today, that battlefield is a pleasant picnic ground along the lake where you can hike, swim, fish, or rent a canoe.
