"The receptionist and the cleaning staff were absolutely amazing. They were very kind and helpful if you needed anything. The room had a heavy chemical smell and the ground was sticky. We asked if it can be mopped again and they were very kind to help with that. The manager on the other hand is not great at communicating or I might assume she was racist. We were taking pictures downstairs and she automatically assumed we were not guests and asked us to leave. The first thing she should have asked was “Are you guests here?” Or “Please, can I see your room card?” Before assuming that we were just random people who walked in to take pictures. With a hotel of high standard, they should train their staff better in communicating as to not appear racist because it felt like a racial assumption. "

"The staff were all so friendly. The hotel was in a safe and great location. The room was clean and it was fun to sleep in a bunk bed that had such a comfortable mattress. "

"This is a great place to stay in NYC for people who don’t plan to be in the room much. Great location. One block from Times Square. Less than five minute walk to Rockefeller. Lots of food options nearby. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Rooms are small but typical for NYC midtown hotels. "

"We loved our stay at Public, the hotel is beautiful and the staff went out of their way to help us. It’s in a great location, we were able to walk most of the trip. I do wish they had better parking options at the hotel. "

" Bar was closed by 11pm on a Friday night in New York. I was charged an extra $35 for credit I never asked for and was told it was mandatory two days before check in. Staff was very helpful, friendly, accommodating with early check in. "

"Less clean and comfortable than what I was expecting. Property is old, rooms were very minimal. Shared bathrooms were in bad shape. Ended up leaving earlier. Staff were nice overall. "

"Very overpriced Westin that is more like a lower-end Marriott. We paid extra for the sofa bed, only to be told that we need to make our own bed (they just dumped a set of bed sheets in front of us). We were misled when we weren't given the daily beverage and food credit, even though the check-in counter staff told us we'd receive it as long as we bought food/drinks from their restaurant. Very disappointing given that I've been a member of Marriott for a very long time. "
