"Barney's Retreat was great! Although it was winter and cold for our visit, we did get one sunny warmer day and we enjoyed sitting next to the river for a bit and listening to the river go by. The water is so clear! And the views up and down the river were very nice. We also loved the fireplace and hot tub for our winter stay :-) The cabin was very comfortable for me and my husband as well as my mom and dad. We had space to hang out, play some board games, cook dinners, and enjoy each other's company. There is no phone signal for verizon, but the wifi was good enough for us to connect to the internet for any online needs. Barney's Retreat is also close to Luray and we had a fun day exploring a few places around Luray as well! Do recommend."

"The cabin was perfect for our girls weekend! I totally missed the fact that there is no wifi, but we were there to relax and disconnect from our everyday lives anyway. Watching sunsets over the river was beautiful, and the fact it was chilly enough for our swimsuits to freeze in between dips in the hot tub was HILARIOUS! The only thing we might suggest is having a map of trails that it is okay for us to walk on near the cabin, since we walked the road, but there were a lot of no trespassing signs on either side. I figured since the area had horseback and atv activities there would be more well-marked trails close by."

"It was a beautiful place, relaxing, great for a group to cook, sit on a porch, next to the deep water of The Shenandoah River. Great beds, kitchen was easy for several people cooking at the same time"

"I found this place cozy. The furniture is in good condition and parking was super-easy. We particularly enjoyed the bonfire at night where we made s'mores. It was a wonderful experience overall. Communication with the hotel was very fast and reliable."
