"I've been staying at the Conservatorium regularly for 12 years now, and it is remarkably consistent: great location, awesome people, striking architecture, and the best gym of all the 5-star hotels in Amsterdam. This year, though, there was one welcome change and one not-so-great one: the breakfast has improved, with the addition of a buffet, which is convenient. But they also seem to have started letting local residents use the gym, so it's now super-packed at all hours, and you have to wait for machines. The gym has always been a big part of why I stayed there, so that's disappointing."

"Hotel Aalders is a small boutique hotel (less than 50 rooms) located in a historic building in the Museum District. It is ideally located just a few minutes walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, half an hour walk to Ann Frank House, and many other museums and attractions, restaurants and bars. The hotel is very well maintained and the services are excellent. The staff were all most friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Our stay at Aalders was one of the highlights of our three week trip to Europe. At the staff suggestion, we took the bus, half a block from the hotel, to Schiphol airport, a half hour ride for 7 Euros or so and with no transfers."

"We stayed in the double basic room with shared bathroom. Room was ok nothing amazing could have done with a bit of a spruce up there was a few cracks in the plaster and the velux/skylight window didn’t shut very well and there looked to have been a previous leak on the sink the bed was comfortable and overall the room was perfectly fine for somewhere to sleep. Shared bathroom & shower was good and we had no issues which was surprising considering you share with approx 6 other rooms but toilet and shower was clean and well looked after. Staff were super helpful at check in and check out would highly recommend this as a budget hotel for Amsterdam as we paid approx £350 for 3 nights for 2 people and was perfect. Also located around 10mins walk from the nearest metro station"

"My first experience in a hostel. The room was pretty much as advertised, and I wasn’t disappointed. I ended up with a nice, quiet roommate, so I was appreciative of that. The kitchen was a little bit smaller than I thought, but it was sufficient enough for my purposes. The staff were extremely helpful if I had a question, and were very knowledgeable about things to do in the area. The location of the hostel being located next to Vondel Park made it perfect for walking around and I found it pretty central to a lot of the big tourist attractions. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are travelling on a budget."

"Wonderful stay! Very helpful staff, especially Ms. Jose at the front desk, just very helpful and kind. The breakfast is amazing. Everything is so fresh and the coffee is the best one I had during my trip. I stayed at the small double room with river view. It was really enough for what we needed but there is no space on the sides of the bed to put a nightstand, just a narrow space to get up and walk, but it was not a big deal. The location is amazing, you can walk everywhere and if not you have the tram stopping 1 minute from the hotel. Also, you can't feel any street noise in the rooms, the soundproofing is excellent."
