For the more adventurous, there are longer, overnight treks that leave from Lake Moke, venturing into the mountains above.Horse-riding tours are offered by the Ben Lomond Station and are a great way to learn about the area. Join one of the treks, ranging from 1.5-5 hours, as experienced local guides lead you through the stunning landscape and history of the region. The tours are suitable for all ages and no riding experience is necessary.Brave the chilly, mountain weather and plunge into the lake’s calm water. Lake Moke is a popular swimming spot in summer despite its temperature. Swimmers are advised to bring a wetsuit, or be prepared for a short swim! Glide across the lake on one of the popular kayak tours, which you can with operators in Queenstown. For those wanting to stay longer than the day, there is a small campsite at the lake. The sites are unpowered but rentals are very affordable.Lake Moke can be reached by car along an unsealed road, or with the assistance of tour operators. There is no public transport to the lake.
