Follow in the footsteps of the rich and famous by visiting this scenic village in southern France. See sights that inspired some of the world’s most revered artists.

Mougins is an old hilltop village surrounded by forests of pines. Over the years, the scenic setting and tranquil atmosphere have attracted many artists and celebrities, including Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Christian Dior and Winston Churchill. Discover why they were so fond of the place when you visit galleries, museums, historical churches and explore the picturesque countryside.

Mougins is still a big draw with artists today. Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets to find studios, galleries and workshops where you can purchase original paintings, drawings and ceramics.

Continue your art exploration in the village’s museums. MACM Classic Art Museum displays pieces by Picasso, Jean Cocteau and Paul Cézanne as well as ancient works, such as Roman statues. Inside the Cultural Center and Gottlob Museum see works by Maurice Gottlob, a former village policeman turned painter.

Your walk through the village will also take you past many old churches and fountains. See Les Horts de la Salle Washhouse-Fountain, which used to be the source of the village's water until 1894.

Make your way over to the Chapelle Notre Dame de Vie. The current building dates back to 1655 and was much admired by Picasso. It was also featured in a painting by British statesman Winston Churchill.

Take advantage of the beautiful green spaces around the village. Enjoy forest and lakeside walks at Valmasque Park. Take the family to Eco’parc Mougins, a fun space dedicated to sustainable development with a woodland, exhibitions about green projects and a playground for children.

Golf enthusiasts can work on their swing surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The Royal Mougins Golf Club to the west of the village is set among forests and hills, while at the Cannes-Mougins Golf Club there are good views of the Southern Alps.
