Natural Chimneys Tours

This is a very interesting hotel because the building and grounds are a former asylum. The room doors have small openings that are now sealed, but reveal the former use for observation. The floors are beautiful restored wooden planks about 6 inches wide and very lovely. Everything inside the rooms was well furnished, and the bathrooms are in a pleasant contemporary style. I could not get the online key system to work so we instead picked up traditional electronic key cards from a woman at the check-in location. Though we did not need it, it appears that the entryway to the hotel office is not handicapped accessible due to the number of stairs. Even though we adjusted the room temperature, it did not seem to affect the actual temperature coming out and it was a bit chilly set to about 68° in July. We did not have time to eat breakfast in the hotel. It has a large parking lot to the side of the main building. The hotel is about 2-minutes drive to the shops and restaurants of Staunton and about 6 minutes to I-81. For EV charging, there are Tesla chargers about 5 minutes away and four 350 kw Electrify America chargers at an impressive Wal-Mart.

The resort was really nice. The water park a little pricey. And almost everything in the resort closed at 5:00 p.m.😡. But all in all it’s nice and peaceful
