We stayed here for 3 nights. The grounds of the resort are excellently maintained and beautiful then sadly you go back to your room. The rooms are terrible. They are extremely dated. The purple looks like something out of Austin Powers. The paint is chipping of the walls, doors and cabinets. The doors an cabinets look like they have just been painted over for years. The shower has a purple glass bock wall and the glass blocks were full of cracks. The TV was the size of a computer monitor. The beds are full size and when you get a "king" bed they just push the two full size beds together. We had a "family suite" which was just two, very poorly connecting rooms with one room having two fulls and the other having the massive, pushed together king. We are a family of 6 and couldn't even sleep in the two rooms without a extra pull out and one child sleeping in the massive bed with us because the full size beds couldn't even sleep two children. Regarding the food, it was ok. Buffet food was average buffet quality. The restaurants were better than the buffet but getting the food out took forever. Same with ordering drinks in the restaurants. If you ordered a bar it was fast but if you ordered at the restaurant it would take 20 min+. I would NOT stay here again! I don't know how this is given 5 stars but it shouldn't be.

Best hotel stay ever..

The spectacular views from everywhere you stand at the hotel were breathtaking. By far the best views at any hotel I’ve ever stayed. The staff was so incredibly helpful at all times, from the start of pick up to drop off and everything in between was amazing. I have a gluten allergy and they made sure I was taken care of with different options if needed. The food was DELICIOUS. The villa was also beautiful and most importantly relaxing. The transport from hotel to las Catalina’s was so convenient and easy. I will remember this trip forever all thanks to all the staff! Thank you so much for making my personal gluten free birthday cake! Shout out to Glen, Sonia, Randy, Armando, Shailyn, absolutely everyone was amazing. I give props to every single staff member that works there. Thank you for your care and hard work dedication of making Costa Rica a humble experience. Pura Vida!

The food was very limited in variety. Some of the staff at the steaks restaurant, witch you need a reservation denies us entry because we were 14 minutes late. The other restaurants were ok nothing impressive.

So, I loved it so much I came back for another stay. I started my 3 week tour of Costa Rica here in this villa and at the end of my trip I adjusted my plans and made sure to return back to Tamarindo and stay a few more nights because I enjoyed the stay that much. We are already taking about returning next summer with more friends and family. The pass to the beachfront club is a great bonus for staying at this villa. They really do take care of so many little details that are appreciated like soap for laundry, beach towels, umbrellas, yoga mats and even a beach bag! This was my absolute favorite place we stayed in my 3 week trip.
