"Hotel is in a great location right on 5th avenue, across from the Library and close to shopping. The room itself was ok. The carpet was dirty in the bedroom and the black out shades had two sections with a 6 inch gap in between which allowed a ton of light in waking us up very early. The staff at the front desk was great but others were not as nice. I was literally hung up on by one staff member when I called to get my car brought up from valet and then when I called back i was placed on...

"The room was spotless and spacious, staff were very friendly. Room was so quiet. You just cannot beat this location in Midtown. Rockefeller, Bryant Park and Times Square subway stations all within a few minutes walk. Basic amenities but it doesn’t matter as so many as places to eat and drink on the doorstep. If you want an excellent affordable room rate in a first class location, Hotel St James is for you. A special mention to the legendary Joey on reception who is so friendly and knowledgeable about the city. Nothing is too much trouble for Joey and he is an asset to this hotel. Thanks for another fantastic stay in NYC!!!!! 😄 the one thing I would mention is that if the AC could be a bit quieter that would be awesome. "
