Hobbit house

Unique VRBO stay. My husband and I loved the charm of this famous “mushroom house”. We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. And we loved the town of Charlevoix.

Simply Awesome!

Eclectic, incredible location, cozy..for 2 people it had everything we could want. Walked to town, beach, lighthouse, other mushroom houses. Just wonderful experience.

The best

An amazing work of architecture located on the lake. Walking distance to the adorable downtown. Fireplace was wonderful to sit by, watch the snow fall and read. Thank you for an excellent visit.

Charming, old school, great location!

Such a fun place to stay for a quick mother/daughter trip to northern Michigan! My adult day vibed with the mushroom/gnome/cottage feel and I like the comfy bed and amazing location. The house is right across the road from the lake and its sweet little lighthouse. We walked along the shore and the footpath on higher ground. It was also pretty close to town for shopping and restaurants. The communication was excellent - and questions answered right away. Would recommend this place as a total experience getaway!

Perfect Getaway!

The “Half House” is such a wonderful little place to rest, recharge, and fuel your soul! It has an immaculate view of Lake Michigan and the South Pier lighthouse. It is very well-kept and clean. There is so much history to learn about the houses, the town, and the region, in general. The check-in and out processes are incredibly easy and user-friendly. There is plenty of parking right near the property even without private parking spots. Overall, I could not recommend this rental enough! It was picture-perfect, even without picture-perfect weather. Just staying in and reading/playing board games was a magical experience.

Charming piece of Charlevoix history

Two night spring break

Nice quaint home, great location. Could use some extra deep cleaning, fresh coat of paint. Soap dispensers watered down and not what the containers say they are. Not a good way to cut cost.

Anniversary Trip

The house was adorable! The weather was perfect. We loved having a view of the lake right outside our window. We would stay there again! There is so much to see and do. If you’re looking for a good breakfast spot, we loved Smoke on the Water. It is just a short walk from the house.

We have been interested in the Earl Young houses since we first discovered them on a day trip to Charlevoix several years ago. So I was excited to find that one was available as a short-term rental. The inside did not disappoint; it was cozy, quirky and a fun experience.
