Secluded Creekside cabin with access to the best swimming hole on Spring Creek

Located in the historic and beautiful Stratobowl. Sleeps 6. This home was built into the landscape of a rugged canyon. The location is very isolated, yet convenient to Rapid City and attractions. Large windows provide incredible wilderness view up Spring Creek. Surrounded by hiking and Forest Service land. A bighorn sheep area borders the property. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a sleeping loft with a queen size bed. A second bedroom has a queen size bed. Both bedrooms have private decks overlooking the creek. There is a well equipped kitchen and a very comfortable living room and a dining area. There is an entertainment center with a video library and local television channels (eight). There is a wraparound deck with seating and relaxing areas. The master bath has both a shower and a claw foot tub. The home is a one-of-a-kind, in a very unique and beautiful setting.

Enjoy the natural beauty of the Black Hills secluded in this one-of-a-kind home along Spring Creek. The home is located in a very unique and historic area, the Stratobowl - birthplace of the Space Age where the Army Air Corps and National Geographic Society launched manned balloon flights into the stratosphere to a record 72,395 feet in 1934-35.

Note: Guests of the "Be House" have access to the best swimming hole on Spring Creek shown in the photos via short drive or stroll of 1/2 mi. This location is shared with another vacation home and we request that "Be House" guests limit their enjoyment of it between the hours of Noon and 5:00pm.

In order to access the surrounding property (Stratobowl, trails along the creek, etc), a hold harmless waiver will be available to sign at check in.

It is about 20 minutes to Rapid City and 20 minutes to Mount Rushmore. Check in time is 3:00 PM and check out is 11:00 AM.

Peaceful and Relaxing stay in the mountains
Ken and Cory have created a gorgeous and peaceful home away from home. The cabin is very secluded, all the amenities you need for a nice stay, breathtaking scenery and just a short distance from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custers State Park, Needles Highway (we went to all of these). We enjoyed a relaxing ride thru the Black Hills on the 1880 train. Very yummy restaurants, but we stocked up on groceries and cooked most meals. The history of the property that the cabin sits on is very interesting! Thank you again Ken and Cory for a remarkable vacation spot! We will be back!

Beautiful peaceful location
Lovely property secluded in nature. We had it all...running river, swimming hole, granite and deer. This was perfect for us. We just finished the Centennial Trail and wanted a place to rest. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked seasonings. The living room has comfortable furniture with excellent views. The wrap around porch was used daily! The location was perfect for day trips to Custer, Rapid City or Hill City. The hosts are wonderful!, very knowledgeable and share our interest in outdoor activities. They even have a garden I was able to resource leafy greens and herbs. The property has a couple of trails to walk. We would definitely stay again!

We stayed in august and had a wonderful time. Property was clean, very well stocked, Ken was welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed hiking on the property and the kayaks/ swimming hole! Beautiful and peaceful but also close to all the sights. Quiet, plenty of space for the kids to run around too. We hope to be back!

Stunning hidden treasure. Great location away from tourism yet minutes away from all the fun. Beautiful area to retreat & decompress from all the noise while exploring the landscape or simply taking in the views from the home. Out of all my travels this location was the hardest to leave.

Absolutely perfect
Location couldn’t be more perfect close to everything but out in the middle of nowhere. Sitting on the deck listening to the steam and watching all the wildlife was our favorite. The swimming hole was amazing also. Would recommend and return.

Home away from home
We were lucky to find this place and experience Black Hills from our backyard. Location of the property is perfect. Short driving distance to town and same to nearby activities. House was stacked with all basic necessities besides food (of course). It is very spacious and cozy. If you like peace and quiet with million dollar views, this property has it all. Swimming hole is 5 minute walk from the house. There are also few short hiking trails on the property. Ken and Cory were always available to answer any questions we had, offer advices on local attractions and even share some local history. We really enjoyed our stay and hopefully will be lucky enough to visit again one day.

The online pictures do not do this property justice. It’s absolutely gorgeous and the multi level wrap around decks let you truly enjoy it all. On property hiking trails and swimming hole are great. You are 30 minutes from Rushmore, Custer,Pactola lake. 40 minutes to Sturgis and a short 15 minutes to rapid city. Location gets no better than this.

This property is in a great location. It is secluded, quiet, beautiful but also near so many places to visit. The location makes it easy to get to many tourist spots. There is a Walmart 10 minutes away. It was a great place to relax. There are several hiking trails nearby as well. I highly recommend the Stratobowl trail

What a beautiful stay we had! The views were breathtaking! Having coffee on the porch each morning while listening to the birds chirp and the rush of the creek was so peaceful! We even saw deer! The hiking trails right on property were fun too! Corey and Ken answered all our questions prior to arrival and Ken was there when we arrived to show us the lay of the land! I would highly recommend this for a small family or for two couples!!

Intriguing and Lovely Cabin Home
The cabin/home was beautifully and artistically designed, with several different porch areas to enjoy the view and stars at night. Kitchen was equipped better than most we have rented. Beds were comfortable. Old fashioned bathtub and separate shower was also quite nice. Plenty of towels. Nothing was lacking. Couldn't have asked for more!

This was our first VRBO experience, and it ruining hotels for us forever. The location was incredible! I was a little worried about some of the railings/drops with a 2 year old, and they were fine. We were able to relax together and enjoy. We took 4 kids, ages 10-2.

Perfect!
If you enjoy nature and privacy, while still being close to town and all the sightseeing you're probably in the area for, then this is the place. Like some others have said, we ended up spending more time at the house than planned and cancelled other tourist activities. We had more family in the house down the hill and all the kids (and myself) loved the swimming hole and exploring the creek and trails. the house was great- tons of space and very comfortable. Only thing is that's not obvious from the listing I don't think is how far this house is from the swimming hole. Luckily it was family in the Blue house, had it been strangers it might've been a little awkward walking through their yard and sharing. The owners are great too! So welcoming and loved hearing stories about the wildlife and the history including the hot air balloons. We like to travel to new places and don't often return to the same place but this was so nice we're thinking about it!

Peace on Earth!
This place is a slice of Heaven on Earth! The views from any and all directions are breathtaking. A place to simply be still. There is endless adventure and a nature playground right outside your door. The sweet sounds of natures goodness abounds here. From the views, cleanliness, wrap around deck, to the true at heart hosts this is by far the best place to stay!

Let me first say the location is beautiful. However,the photos of this particular house made it seem like the swimming hole was on the property. IT IS NOT, ITS A DRIVE OR SHORT HIKE. its a shared hole with another rental home that the hole actually sits on. We went once and were stared down until we felt so uncomfortable we ended up leaving. There is no easy way to the river that runs along the property if you want. To fish. There is poison ivy all over the place, so be aware and wear pants and sleeves if wanting to hike. The house is cool only when cool outside. There are small wall coolers that can't keep up in heat, so if it's hot outside, the house is also hot. the owner came to the property daily, making us feel like we were being monitored and watched. The house was nice, but not very clean. In the main bathroom there was old urine caked on the toilet. We scoured it to feel comfortable using. There was a few damp musty towels left in the dryer. If you have elderly people with you be aware all bedrooms are up 2 flights of stairs. We were asked to pull bedding/towels off and launder. The kitchen supplies were okay, not great, as I had to make due with what was there. Condiments seemed to be leftovers from ehat others had left behind and not items that should be there all the time. ie salt. None of our issues were serious complaints, however, we booked this place because of what we saw and read online, so want to make others aware, prior to making thier choice.

Lovely place, so relaxing
This home is so lovely and the location can't be beat. Sitting on the deck and listening to the rushing water was so very relaxing. The hosts were very gracious and attentive to our needs. The kids loved the swimming hole (youth kayaks were available at the shore). The location is great, closer than Rapid City to most of the things we wanted to see. The only thing that was disappointing was the fact there are rattlesnakes and poison ivy on the property so I didn't feel comfortable letting the kids play outside and explore the yard.

Perfect place to "BE"
This was an amazing authentic Black Hills experience. We loved the only sound being the waterfall, stream, and nature. The trails and swimming hole were an added bonus. Cory and his family were so very welcoming and friendly. And how amazing that we were able to stay at an important place (Stratobowl) in American history. This is somewhere we will remember forever.
