not a great first impression at all!

I was extremely disappointed when I checked in to be told that they didn't have my reservation at all.In a state of panic I had no idea what I was going to do since I had plan this stay over a month prior for my girlfriends and I.This had never happened to me before booking through hotels.com.The staff wasn't very friendly first telling me that they had no suites available which was what I originally booked. I showed the staff member my reservation confirmation and she said no they still didn't have anything for me. After a few seconds she proceeds to look in her computer then telling me she has one standard room available which wasn't big enough for four people and a king suite that was just as big as the one I originally booked.Really? Now at this point I'm just confused so obviously I booked the king because I had no choice I was terrified I was going to be left with nothing. They gave me a price that was slightly less and then offered me 4 chocolate chip cookies? Wow what great service. No apologies at all.And to top it off I had 4 bags in my hand struggling to carry to the room and not one of the staff members who were all standing there watching me struggle to carry my bags offered to help me! Totally totally disappointed for such a high caliber hotel in Rochester how terrible that service was.

Last second get together downtown with bunch of freinds. Great start to a night hanging out in suite and ended even mmorning. Great staff, amazing cocktails on roof top lounge

Pros: Great location, food, and price.
Cons: The mattress was a bit firm.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was helpful and the valet very friendly.

Rooms are great but breakfast is not

Room service and the amateur kitchen are a problem here. We ordered the American breakfast and instead of scrambled eggs they came slightly mixed and fried flat, then the potatoes were disgusting deep fried mushy new potatoes. What's the big deal about making hash browns from scratch and why can't they do it? Next day we ordered oatmeal with no brown sugar at all, and one bowl came without it and the other bowl had these crazy lumps of brown sugar in it. Then there's a problem with noisy hotel guests who screamed their heads off in the rear of the hotel at 2 AM, and a room near us was constantly opening and closing its balcony doors for an hour in the middle of the night. Security solved the problem and then they opened it again apparently after he left a half hour later.

I had an excellent stay at Double Tree. Staff were nice except for one thing. They should be more familiar with Public Transportation and what is happening in Stat Holidays like the malls are closed and you trap in your own room because the whole city is dead. Also Hilton Honors associated with this Hotel they do not want to put the points. If they do not change this stupid policy members will stop booking hotels and cancel memberships. One more observation, the staff is not well informed about what the Hotel is given the guest as complementary services like the water and coffee. I never touched the bottles of water and also the coffee thinking that I will be charged. Shuttle service is excellent and people are friendly which is not usual in Rochester.
