Saalbach-Hinterglemm Vacation Packages
Saalbach-Hinterglemm features some of the best winter sports in Salzburg province. Enjoy downhill skiing on more than 167 miles (270 kilometers) of slopes. Go tobogganing, skibobbing and curling. The resort is comprised of two villages, Saalbach and Hinterglemm, linked by lift systems and ski buses. Saalbach, the livelier and more picturesque of the two villages, is dominated by the towering steeple of its old church. Wander along Saalbach’s streets, lined with quaint chalet-style buildings. Stop for a traditional meal of kasnocken, small pasta dumplings with cheese and onions, or kaiserschmarrn, a shredded, caramelized pancake.
Find the Kohlmais cablecar near Saalbach’s church and ride to the top of the ridge to see gorgeous panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. From here, ski back to the village on the 2-mile (3-kilometer) run, which is perfect for advanced and intermediate level skiers. For cross-country skiing, follow the 3-mile (4-kilometer) Hohenloipe Hinterglemm trail which begins near the top of the Reiterkogel lift.
Head past the Zwolferkogel gondola to reach the skating rink, where you can ice skate or play hockey. Take a toboggan down the 2-mile (3-kilometer) Spielberghaus run.
In the summer, take a relaxing stroll or challenging hike along the resort’s 248 miles (400 kilometers) of well-marked footpaths. Don’t miss the Treetop Path, a combination of path and rope bridge, one of the highest in Europe.
A shuttle bus will take you from Salzburg Airport to Saalbach-Hinterglemm. If you’re coming by car, many hotels at the resort offer parking. There are also a number of garages on the outskirts of town.
