"Lovely, friendly, well located hotel. "
The hotel was well located about a 5/10 minute walk from St Marks and the Rialto. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Very friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Very good for the price.

"Convenient and comfortable"
Only about a 15 minute walk away from St Marks Square (if you don't get lost in the alleys) and close to the Grand Canal for transportation. It's relatively quiet, the bed and sofa bed are comfortable, the studio is spacious and the shower room is clean. Decor is fresh and the ceilings are high. The kitchen is a bit basic, though it has everything you need. If we go back to Venice, we'll be staying at Ca' Sant'Angelo again.

"Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. "
Great location although restaurants and bars expensive near by. Worth walking away from San Marcos to other areas where food and drink are much better value. Small hotel with its own unique style. Staff go extra mile to ensure your stay in Venice is worthwhile by supplying lots of information on where to go and what to do. Not much choice at breakfast but it was sufficient for our needs. would definitely recommend.

Close to everything (Grand Canal, St. Mark's square, restaurants) as well as being in a quiet location. A little difficult to find but once you do it is not difficult to find after the first attempt.

"Nice hotel, amazing loction"
Lovely location, the barman is charming and makes the best double espresso I have had anywhere in the world. When the water taxi we had booked could not come the reception staff let us know and booked a water taxi to the Piazzale Roma and then a car to the airport. Wifi is poor. Had it been better the hotel facilities would be 5*. Minor issues, the coffee we ordered on the first day at breakfast did not arrive until we reminded them and when it did the coffee had slopped over the jug. 2 seconds with a cloth would have made a difference. When I asked the reception staff if they could help me with a card trick the answer was "No", a rather graceless response to a trivial request from a paying guest when they were not busy. In summary the hotel is very nice, the location excellent, the staff good but not amazing. In a less expensive hotel I would have given 5* across the board. But at top end hotels the details are what make the difference and here they were good but not perfect. The days when I would be wowed by a chocolate on the pillow are gone....on the other hand we were wowed by the bottle of prosecco in an ice bucket and plate of fruits which greeted us on arrival. A nice touch.

San Marco 2009, Venice 30124 - Map
"Location is great, though room could be updated"
The best thing about this hotel is the location, easy to get to from Marco Polo by taking ACTV or ATVO bus from airport to Piazzale Roma (20 mins), then getting on the vaporetto (water bus/ferry) Line 1 or 2 (2 is faster, less stops than Line 1) to San Marco stop (30-40 mins depending on which line you take). Then it's a short 5 min walk to the hotel. Hotel is a less than 5 min walk to Piazza San Marco. The walls are quite thin at this hotel so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms. Room is bare minimum and seemed older - but maybe it's difficult to upgrade hotels in Venice? Bathroom had a nice towel warmer, but the most annoying part was that the bathroom in our room, though it was super roomy and had a bidet and everything, had a small, narrow bathtub situated in the sloped roof part of the building so we had to crouch on sit on a plastic stool to shower to avoid hitting the ceiling. And we are by no means tall 5ft4 to 5ft8. Banged our heads a few times on the sloped ceiling and basically used the handheld shower head, and tried not to get water all over the floor. So, if you don't care about that, the rest of the hotel is fine and other rooms may not be the same. Breakfast was toast, croissants, eggs, sausage, ham and cheese, cookies/sweets/cakes, that sort of spread. Staff is great for recommendations on where to eat etc. Lift/elevator only goes to 2nd Flr and then you walk up the stairs to the 3rd Flr where our room was.

Great hotel and staff. My only complaint is that, having never been to Venice, the English directions were a little hard to follow at times. We doubled back once or twice but otherwise it was simple.

Pocket Guide: San Marco, Venice Pet-friendly Hotels

San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
