Sandy is within easy reach of many of Portland’s well-known sights. The Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge and the Captain William Clark Regional Park are just two of the popular places to visit. Also worth checking out are the Orchard Hills Golf and Country Club and the Two Rivers Heritage Museum.
There are some interesting museums, exhibits and venues in and around Sandy. There are many excellent destinations to take the family for a couple of hours including the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Oregon City.
If you are into nature, plan a trip to some of the nearby green spaces. These are great places to relax. Keen gardeners enjoy destinations such as the Mt Tabor Park and Lents Park. There is a charming atmosphere here as well as pretty gardens. Prepare for a day on the water with the kids and drive out to the Lacamas Lake Regional Park in Camas.
If you have time in and around Sandy, be sure to visit Grotto. Wander back through Portland’s past by checking out nearby historic sites, such as the Parker's Landing Historical Park in Washougal.
If you are ready to indulge in some retail therapy, explore the many stores at the Clackamas Town Center in Clackamas, Mall 205 and Clackamas Promenade.
Spend an evening high in the stands of Chiles Center, cheering on the much-loved Portland Pilots. On game days the stadium overflows with purple and white, as local basketball lovers come together to get behind their home-grown heroes.
