FABULOUS LOCATION
This home has a spectacular view of the ocean!!!! Located right on the bluff near the walking trail and you can see the waves crashing on the rocks from inside the house. The home is comfortable but a bit dated and worn. We had to go out buy some basic essentials (Saran wrap, Aluminum foil, sugar, scrub sponge) but otherwise had what we needed. Unfortunately the hot tub was not working. When we called the property manager they immediately sent out a technician to work on it. They are still trying to figure out why it's not working. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay aside from the few issues mentioned. THANK YOU!!!

Good Storm and leaky roof
We knew from the pictures that there was significant evidence of water damage in this home. We also knew there was an older 60's era date to the home. We did not know that the differed maintenance extended to cracked and missing tiles in the kitchen, sliding doors that did not slide, missing boards on the garage door, and weeds and pooled water at the driveway entrance. Add to that the leaking roof, and the value of an oceanfront location was significantly diminished.

Fantastic Location but house can been improved
We had an amazing time in Sea Ranch and the house has some incredible views, however it feels like the property owners could put more time and attention into the house itself. There were a lot of spider webs and overall cleaning that could be improved. It also feels like no one has checked the amenities in a while (games were missing parts, kitchen is sparse and missing basics like normal salt and pepper, towels are insanely old and scratchy). For the crazy amount folks are paying, there’s a lot that could be done to improve the experience of the house as well. Also, please make sure to read both the check-in details for Vacasa and Vrbo; we missed a lot of important information assuming Vacasa and Vrbo at least had the same details. Definitely a frustration.

What a great place!
Clean, comfortable, great location with a fantastic view, comfy beds and sitting areas, nicely equipped kitchen. What’s not to love? The only inconveniences, minor ones in the scheme of things, were that several light/dimmer switches were broken, reducing the already somewhat less than optimal lighting in the kitchen/dining areas; and that neither matches nor kindling were provided for the fireplace, requiring a trip to Gualala to buy some. But overall, just a great place and we will be back.

Sub-standard house
Vacasa was great, but the house was not. The VIEW was fabulous; that's what made it all worthwhile, but after renting houses for 50 years at Sea Ranch, this was the 'dumpiest' house we ever had. Except for appliances, few updates in 40 years. The beds was great, but the master bedroom did not have a shower and we had to walk down the hall to the guest bathroom shower, which was not on a par with other homes. The pots and pans were substandard; there were water stains on the walls; at first there was no screen on the sliding glass door in the living area,--THE ONLY VENTILATION IN THE MAIN PART OF THE HOUSE--and thus we were invaded by flies; Vacasa replaced the screen but it was flimsy and my husband had to fix it; it was advertised with a DVD player but it was not functional; the Dish TV choices were minimal--e.g., no decent news channel--at least we had access to Netflix and Amazon Prime; the furnishings were old; the deck space was minimal; at first the BBQ was locked in the garage with no way to get at it until Vacasa helped. Basically, the house is a tear down. BUT THE VIEW AND VACASA WERE GREAT, given the limitations of the house.

Beautiful home with an ideal view!
This house is perfect for a large family or group of friends. There is plenty of space to hang out. My friends and I liked the open floor plan where we can carried on conversations while in the kitchen and living room. in the afternoon we spent time on the deck just watching the ocean and people walking by. The property is located at an ideal point of the bluff trail where you can stop to watch the ocean and breakwater. The rooms were also spacious and airy and two of them also have views of the ocean. The hot tub and fireplace were also a hit with our group. Overall I would recommend this place.

Lovely view, funny critters...
Overall one of the nicest places we've stayed...great walks in either direction. Small things to look at for owners, couple of the ceiling track lights were out, the screen door needs a latch, we had a racoon open it one night and run around and eat crackers and fruit, nice little guy he left peacefully...and since I'm an older person the tube in the master bedroom was hard to use and this is just me, but there was no place to read at night, all the lamps were low or on the ceiling....Wonderful place all and all, would book it again!

Donaldson escape
Trash cans overflowing on arrival. Directions unclear about how trash pickup works in Sea Ranch. Trash was picked up Thursday...not Wednesday as stated in the welcome material. Rodents in the garage. Mouse poop on floor and landing on top of cars. No paper towels and only two rolls of toilet paper. Hot tub is old and only two feet deep. There are no safety latches installed on the cover. This is dangerous for a property that allows kids. Lots of spiders and spider webs in the house. Discharged fire extinguisher found in the closet. Despite those things listed above the house is comfortable and the location next to the bluff and Stengel Beach is fantastic.

Great view; needs upgrades
The house is the perfect size for a small group. It sits on a bluff right over the ocean with a walking path down to the beaches from either direction. The bedrooms are roomy, though the mattresses are worn and not very comfortable. Many of the light bulbs throughout the house were burnt out. The kitchen doesn't have basic condiments, so be sure to bring salt & pepper and olive oil. Wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a set of knives for cooking too as the ones here aren't sharp. Pot-holders are worn through and there are no cloth napkins. There are no directions on how to use the TV which is very confusing to set up; Direct TV, a DVD player but no Netflix. Hot tub was in good working order. The Jacuzzi in one of the bathrooms ran out of hot water before it could be used. Comfortable leather couch and chairs in the living room, but facing away from the ocean view. We wanted to love this house, which looks lovely in the pictures, but there are several things that need to be upgraded and made easier for guests.

The location is magnificent! If you want to see, hear and smell the ocean, this is an ideal house!
The location of the house and the views from the house are stellar! If you are looking for a modern luxurious rental, this is probably not a good choice. The house is clearly a standard rental (albeit with a washer, dryer, dishwasher and hot tub) circa 1970.

Great views, comfortable house.
One of the best views in Sea Ranch. Close to the bluff, with a reef just off shore. The master bath has a kind of odd sunken bath/shower that I found less than ideal, but that's not a big deal. The kitchen is small but adequate. Good TV package - we were able to catch our local teams every night.

Beautiful View
We had an amazing vacation in Sea Ranch. This was our first time renting a vacation home so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it went very smoothly. The view just cannot be beat. Seriously. We saw whales, dolphins and seals right from the kitchen. The house was a little dated but I think it just added to the charm of the whole place. It was clean and comfortable and a wonderful place to stay with our four kids.

House was nice, but there were issues detailed below
The house was very pleasant, and right on the beach; great location. We had some trouble locating the "office"; there are no people in the office, but you have to go there to pick up a package from a mailbox. It is not clear why that needs to be done. The key to the house is in a lockbox at the house. We found out the hard way that you pay almost twice as much as the listed price of the house: there are booking and service costs, a separate hot tub fee, and cleaning fee. We had made the reservation through VRBO, not knowing that both they and the company renting out the houses all charge fees. When we got there, the hot tub was broken. The woman on call for these, Joann, was in fact very helpful, and by the end of the next day it did get fixed, so that just before leaving we could use it (it takes 24 hrs to heat up). After some effort we did get the hot tub fee returned. So in conclusion: some serious thinking is needed by both VRBO and the actual rental company about what they are trying to accomplish here. Surely, we are not tempted to come back if this is how they want to conduct their business(es).

Gorgeous views in a below average home
Let me just say this place has the most amazing oceanfront views! We even saw two humpback whales and tons of dolphins too. The inside, however, could use some serious updates. Considering these oceanfront homes nearby list for $1.5 million and up, this one would be lucky to go for half that with the lack of quality inside. The beds are very old and uncomfortable, the furnishings are dated, and the back patio with beautiful views has only plastic chairs and not even a table to set your drinks on or sit around and gather. The master bedroom shower is the funniest thing I have ever seen, some strange 60's recessed tub/shower combo for one. The hot tub warms up about two degrees an hour and isn't even on the back patio to take in the views, it's at the front door with zero ocean views, brilliant! I would recommend coming to Sea Ranch, but not stay in this house. Other houses we went to in the area are so much nicer. This one has gorgeous views but is not worth wasting your vacation dollars on. My travel trailer is nicer.

Nicely located home with astounding views
We stayed for one week at the Donaldson escape, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the sea ranch area. Pros: the property is close to the bluff trail, which is right outside the back deck; the views from inside and outside are fantastic-we enjoyed watching the deer stroll through the yard in the evenings. it is an easy walk to a heated full sized lap swimming pool with sauna; it's also an easy walk to the little beaches and seal rookery; the kitchen is well supplied; the heat works very well (some of the evenings were chilly) and the hot tub also worked well. Cons: The house is a bit dated, as other reviewers have pointed out; there is no WiFi provided, (there is dish TV however); the refrigerator does not have an icemaker; the master bath has a jacuzzi tub, but you run out of hot water when trying to fill it above the jets; there is not a grill outside (we cooked almost every night, since there are not really any restaurants in the area) and the deck furniture consists of cheap plastic chairs that are easily blown away. One of the appeals of sea ranch is the quiet restful view, and it would have been nice to be able to sit outside on the deck.

Stunning setting! House/Mgmt could do better :(
This location is stunning. The house is basically RIGHT on the coast! Sunset views and the sound of the waves are spectacular. Would recommend for that reason. Unfortunately the house leaves much to be desired. A light above the dining room was broken. The blender was broken. Pieces of the countertop tile were falling to the floor during our stay. The deck would be AWESOME with a patio set, but there's no table. Instead there's four cheap plastic chairs, and....one of them is broken. Management didn't return my call for over 24 hours. Apparently they don't usually work on Saturday/Sunday? Not ideal for a company managing vacation rentals! House is truly beautiful. Could use some TLC.

Great place to relax.
We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation: great weather, ocean views, beautiful flat walking trails to various beaches within the Sea Ranch property. Bring your tennis racket to use at the Rec Centers if you like; swimming pools too. The "look" of Sea Ranch is striking: a balance between minimalist modern architecture and the beauty of nature. We certainly will come again.

Magical oceanside getaway!
My mom, sisters, and aunt and I spent three wonderful days at this home. I loved its rustic feel and overall design. It is simple and perfect. The layout makes it easy to hang out, cook together, and to let yourself be hypnotized by the waves. You are SO close to the ocean in this location. I have rented quite a few homes through VRBO (and stayed at Sea Ranch lots of times) and this is one of my absolute favorites.
