Northern Light Balloons will take you for a sunrise float over Sedona. Filling the balloons and lift off was really fun, but I found the floating around to be a bit freaky and I'm not afraid of heights. The kids liked it, but we wish we brought earplugs for them because the burners are loud. Expensive- $195 pp for 1 hour flight plus breakfast. #canyonballrun2013 This is down a path by the river the road is right above this shot. Sedona is such a unique and beautiful place.

Andromeda Galaxy rising over Sedona, Arizona
I've been wanted to get a shot of Andromeda rising over some cliff formations for a while, and I researched many locations to try this out. The decision was a trailhead parking lot off Schnebly Hill Road in Sedona.
I thought I had timed it right, and there were mostly clear skies in the forecast, but things don't always go according to plan. By the time it was dark, Andromeda was already high over the cliffs, so I couldn't use 70mm to anchor it close to the rocks, or even 50mm, which was what I had planned. I opted for 35mm, and hoped for the best.
The clouds actually add interest, so I'm happy with them.
The sky is a stack of 10 shots at 4000 ISO, and the foreground is one shot at 320 ISO, 7 minute exposure. During a near fullmoon, the landscape of Sedona Arizona glows under the stars of night. A long exposure created the ethereal mood, a view which can’t be seen with the naked eye. By Matt Anderson photography This view is from Hiking to cathedral rock starting at hiline trailhead. The trail is full of beautiful views and is a mountain bike trail so if you're a hiker watch for bikers! Some of the paths are steep and narrow so I recommend hikers to not wear headphones as to hear a biker who may be coming fast around a corner. The church built in between the mountain's rocks . Hiking the Teacup Trail. About a mile loop, flat, awesome views and great for kids. #canyonballrun2013 Sedona

Cathedral Rock, Sedona
Relax in the river and enjoy the scenery. Beautiful hiking destination in Sedona The Red Rocks of Sedona are magical especially as the sun sets, and during twilight. If in Sedona, be sure to drive up to Airport Mesa for sunset. If you get there early enough, you can park at the lower vista and take a trail up to a knoll (not the mesa.) This location has far fewer visitors who congregate at sunset. You can see the city below the red rocks from this view. The one you want on the postcard. The colors of the landscape are amazing! There are a lot of strange names for the rock formations in Sedona, but I don't see how they could have called this anything else.
( #blue ) Buddha Beach on the property of the Crescent Moon Ranch. There's an entrance fee of $9.00 to access this huge swath of land, which offers views of Cathedral Rock and long stretches of gentle creek water available for swimming, wading or just sitting quietly and clearing your thoughts. I don't think the words This is one of the many beautiful views along hiline trail to cathedral rock. It's an advanced mountain biking trail but also great for hikers... If you're hiking just keep your eyes and ears out for bikers! The loop we did was about 8miles and took us a little under 4 hours including climbing up cathedral rock and stopping for lots of pictures and a lunch break. This trail was recommended to us by a worker at The Hike House (near the main drag of Sedona). I highly recommend stopping at the hike house for outdoor recommendations for hiking, biking etc... They also have a great store for hiking equipment and a snack shop. A night shot of Bell Rock on a clear moonless night. Sedona does a magnificent job of keeping light pollution to a minimum. The night sky on our last day in Sedona was breathtaking. Sedona needs no introduction. Sedona needs no publicity. To the contrary. If someone were to start a wildly fantastic rumor that a nuclear accident had produced gangs of six-foot carnivorous lizards who roamed the streets looking for tourists, it might do the city some good. Every weekend, the traffic-circled main drag of town is a dripping stream of molasses, with folks coming from hundreds of miles away to soak in the beauty. I spent two hours driving ten miles to get to this view. Lesson learned.
The weekdays, on the other hand, are an entirely different affair. The tourists come, but not in droves, and if you pick your places carefully -- not even all that carefully -- you can get a feel for the Sedona which must have existed here twenty or fifty or a hundred years ago.
The city is famous for its hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. The five- and six-hundred foot red rock mesas lining the canyons in the area are enough to make your jaw drop, and to literally stop traffic.
You can hike hard, you can hike easy. You can just walk. Enjoy the restaurants. The arts-centered shopping. Hire a pink jeep to take you up into the high country. Or trudge out there yourself.
If you're aching for calm and sun and dry, lazy days, by all means head for Sedona. But steer clear of weekends. Or holidays. Or spring break. Or any time you think the greater portion of Southern California, Phoenix, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah might be hankering for a getaway.
Even then, it might just be worth it. I had always heard good things about Sedona, AZ but only recently made my way there. Now I understand what everyone has been talking about. This place is pretty damn awesome. Yes, it's touristy in town, but when you get out on the trails, you can find all kinds of solace - and all kinds of awesome stuff to point the camera at. Count me a fan. From http://nomadicpursuits.com/ #Hiking the West Fork Oak Creek Trail in Sedona. A wonderful hike in the water to escape the heat. #InStone The red rocks around Sedona at sunset. Sunset at Airport Mesa is a must if in Sedona. I recommend hiking to the knoll below the mesa for a view with fewer people. The mesa is accessible by car and attracts large numbers of people. You have to hike to the knoll and far fewer people congregate here. It's a popular place, but it provides some of the most sweeping views of the main red-rock formations surrounding the town. Oh, and the flora ain't bad, either. Amazing view .... Even if you’ve never been to Red Rock Crossing before, you will most likely experience a sense of déjà vu. If you have seen a photo of Sedona, you have probably seen this exact spot with the famous Cathedral Rock. Visited Sedona, AZ this past April and this church was one of the cool stops along the way. Amazing architecture and what a crazy place to have a church. Sedona /sᵻˈdoʊnə/ is a city that straddles the county line between Coconino and Yavapai counties in the northern Verde Valley region of the U.S. state of Arizona. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,031.[4]
Sedona's main attraction is its array of red sandstone formations. The formations appear to glow in brilliant orange and red when illuminated by the rising or setting sun. The red rocks form a popular backdrop for many activities, ranging from spiritual pursuits to the hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails.
Sedona was named after Sedona Arabella Miller Schnebly (1877–1950), the wife of Theodore Carlton Schnebly, the city's first postmaster, who was celebrated for her hospitality and industriousness.[5] Her mother, Amanda Miller, claimed to have made the name up because Beautiful spot to stop, grab coffee then take a few romantic shots overlooking the gorgeous red rock.
