Just northeast of the airport visit Family Kingdom Amusement Park, a seaside entertainment center. Choose from more than 35 rides to test your thrill-seeking capabilities or enjoy calmer attractions such as the Ferris wheel, carousel or water rides. Park admission is free, with ride passes available at the gate or online.

Part of South Carolina’s Grand Strand is designated as Myrtle Beach State Park. Here Myrtle Beach State Park Pier extends far into the ocean, making it an excellent location for year-round fishing or just enjoying refreshing sea breezes. Rent a fishing pole at the pier if you didn’t bring your own.

Myrtle Beach’s water environment is extended at Wild Water & Wheels at Surfside Beach. The Free Fall Cliff Dive attraction is earmarked for the adventurous, with a ride that plummets at 45 miles (72 kilometers) per hour from its extreme height toward the ground. Ride the go-karts or play miniature golf. Water slides offer excitement for all levels. Spend time at the adult lounge pool or simply relax in the sun.

After all the activity, upscale shopping is the reward at The Market Common. Browse a selection of boutique stores and restaurants lining both sides of the boulevard. The conveniently located craft brewery provides an excellent excuse to sample their products. See the latest movie releases as you sit in luxury stadium seats at the Grand 14 Cinema. Near the airport, the Coastal Grand Mall is one of the state’s largest malls.

Get to South Myrtle Beach by flying to Myrtle Beach International Airport. This neighborhood extends from the airport about 10 miles (16 kilometers) south along the coast to Surfside Beach and Garden City.
