For family days on the beach, a week of golf with friends or exploring and playing in the town’s attractions, this South Carolina beach town is superb.

From white sands to Broadway to endless golf, enjoy all of Myrtle Beach’s myriad attractions. Myrtle Beach, the beach, stretches for 60 miles (100 kilometers) along the Atlantic Ocean. Play Frisbee and volleyball, sunbathe, make sandcastles and find sections with wheelchair accessibility.

Stroll along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk for shopping, attractions and views over the ocean. Take a flight in the SkyWheel enclosed gondolas and gaze out at hotels along the beach and Pier 14’s restaurant over the water.

South of the town center is Myrtle Beach State Park. Fish from the long Springmaid Pier, swim, watch for birds and bike or ride horseback on its trails. Camp overnight to gaze at the stars.

Broadway at the Beach is a 350-acre (140-hectare) complex of entertainment, shopping, dining, unique attractions and special events. See a tribute performance at Legends in Concert. The Palace Theatre Myrtle Beach features live entertainment from Broadway musicals to local holiday celebrations. Visit a comedy club or bars and nightclubs with live entertainment. Choose from dozens of cafés, restaurants and snack shops for varied food and drink.

Attractions at the Broadway center include mini-golf and ziplining over the lake. Play laser-tag, land a NASA space shuttle or ride a 360-degree virtual roller coaster at WonderWorks. Look for souvenirs and necessities at more than 70 retail shops. Watch the Myrtle Beach Pelicans play baseball.

Stretching from Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet to North Myrtle Beach are more than 100 golf courses. Plan a week of double-play days on fairways designed by great golf architects and never visit the same course. Alternatively, select a single golf and spa resort for an all-in-one experience of leisure and luxury.

Fly to the Myrtle Beach International Airport, just a 10-minute drive from the town center. Visit in March for the Myrtle Beach Marathon, May for Myrtle Beach Bike Week, June for Carolina Country Music Festival or throughout the year for other special events.

Getting around Myrtle Beach

Ideally, you should aim to rent a car in Myrtle Beach if you can. This will give you the freedom to explore the city at your own pace and go on excursions further afield. The main stretch of coast in the city itself is too long to be easily walkable. However, you can still get around without a car. Take a taxi, or use the local bus network, the Coast RTA. It travels to key locations in the area. Visit the Waccamaw Coast Regional Transportation AuthorityOpens in a new window website.Browse Myrtle Beach rental cars.

Best Time to Visit Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is a classic summer escape, with long beach days, warm evenings on the Boardwalk, and plenty of family-friendly fun. If you’re deciding when to go, think about what you want most from the trip: prime beach weather, fewer people, or lower hotel prices.

Drawing on Expedia Group booking data from 2025, here’s how Myrtle Beach demand, pricing, and travel patterns shift throughout the year.

When to Visit Myrtle Beach at a Glance

  • Best weather: March to June and October to November
  • Most crowded: July, June, and August (about 7.3x busier than the calmest months)
  • Cheapest months: January, February, and December (about 65% lower than peak)
  • Fewest crowds: January, December, and February
  • Major travel spikes: April through August, peaking in July
  • Best value balance: February, January, and December (about 63% below peak pricing)

When Is the Best Weather in Myrtle Beach?

For beach time and easy outdoor days, spring from March through June and the milder fall stretch of October and November deliver the most comfortable weather. That is when long swims, pier strolls, and sunset rides on SkyWheel Myrtle Beach all come together nicely, with warm afternoons that rarely tip into the sticky extremes.

If you are comparing Myrtle Beach weather by month, the deep summer heat and humidity of July and August can feel heavy, and that is when indoor-friendly plans shine. You will have more room to browse the shops and enjoy the attractions at Broadway at the Beach without the peak swelter.

When Is the Cheapest Time to Visit Myrtle Beach?

The cheapest time to visit Myrtle Beach is usually January, February, and December, when hotel prices run about 65% lower than the priciest summer weeks. Those same months offer the best overall value balance, at roughly 63% below peak.

To stretch your budget further, carefully time the days of your stay. Tuesday is typically the cheapest check-in day, while Friday and Saturday are the most expensive. Planning around these nights is a simple way to reduce Myrtle Beach hotel costs.

When Is Myrtle Beach Most Crowded?

Myrtle Beach is busiest in July, June, and August, when visitor levels are about 7.3 times higher than in January, December, and February. If you’re aiming for the least crowded time to visit Myrtle Beach, those winter months are your best bet for shorter lines and a calmer Boardwalk.

Because July, June, and August are the Myrtle Beach peak season, top properties can sell out quickly, especially on weekends. So locking in your preferred hotel and location early will help you stay near the beach and attractions you want.

How Far in Advance Should You Book Myrtle Beach Hotels?

Travelers book earlier for busier periods: June stays are typically reserved about 41 days in advance, compared with roughly 15 days for January trips. Use that gap as your guide; start looking for a hotel at least a month in advance for summer dates, and be prepared for less flexibility during high-demand periods.

Summer trips also tend to run a bit longer, averaging just over three nights in June, while November stays shorten to about two nights. Flexible rates are used a little more in late summer (about 48% in August) and less in June (around 42%), so refundable options can be harder to find when demand is highest.
