I had an upgrade from a standard double to a suite. Which was nice. But an upgrade cannot compensate for the horrors of the Dorsett Shepherd's Bush. This hotel used to be immaculate, but now it's tired and rough around the edges. Scuff marks on the walls, doors with chunks missing, and improvements made to the facilities which have been poorly executed by the former standards of this hotel.
But there's worse. Much worse. One of my abiding memories of stayed at the Dorsett was the delicious scent which it you as you walked through the grand revolving doors. The doors no longer revolve and when you enter, the stench of the sewers hits your nose hard. The plumbing here is a huge problem, and it pervades the whole place, from the lobby to the lifts and even the 8th floor suites.
This is not the fault of the staff on duty, but an upkeep and maintenance issue which shows how little investment the hotel is getting.
I won't be staying again. This experience was the last time I'll be visiting until this issue is fixed permanently.
