“Great location for Northern Presidential mountains”

“Safe and clean, although dated. It was very difficult to get the shower to a safe, comfortable temp, but with some patience, it can be done. The hot tub/spa area is seasonal, which was not advertised. Quiet and comfortable, the room was spacious.”

Our room was on the smaller size, but with all the fun stuff to do between the on-site Shovel Handle Pub and literally being in the same parking lot as Black Mountain, you don't need to spend much time in there. “Friendly staff and main part of hotel appeared cleaner than the room. The room we stayed in needed a serious deep clean. The room smelled like stale cigarettes and smelly feet. We opened the window but there were no screens. The carpet was very stained and likley the cause of the smell. It needs to be shampooed or replaced. I kept my socks on to walk around the room. The sheets were clean but the bedspreads were both stained with what looked like oil. Huge cobweb on the ceiling/wall that's been……

“Loved the historical significance and serenity! Beautiful location and they have a nice bar, restaurant and pool. The lobby is very welcoming and when they don’t serve breakfast in the dining room they put out a simple but nice take it with you treat of yogurt and fruit, juice and bagels. You really have everything you need there. Golfers will have something to do as well, there is a 9 hole course on the property.
