The church was built in 1903 using volunteer labor. It was also used as the community's high school from 1906–1908. In January 1963, it became only the fourteenth site to be designated as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
The church was originally built at Topanga Blvd until it was moved inside Oakwood in 1965. It was renamed in 1958 to Chatsworth First Methodist Church.

The staff were amazing and the hotel is beautiful. Very clean and the nostalgia of old Hollywood is really there. I originally booked a king room and upgraded it as the room was a bit cramped. I upgraded insight, the staff was very accommodating. We upgraded to a king loft and it was wonderful.

Chatsworth is charming, with some lovely little parks. This hotel is located on a main street--Devonshire--and could be so much better. I was very disappointed in this.
