“Fieldways hotel has been our choice over the past 10 years but on this occasion we were very disappointed with the lack of staff available at any time, seemed a like a “Look after yourself” scenario’ Our main concern was that we paid £24 more than ever before and there was no cooked breakfast!! The toilets were very dated and needed a complete overhaul/clean. My comment to my wife was that I did not think the hotel would stay open for long and that it seemed as though it was going to be closed……

“The room was fine but as we went on the hottest day of the year it was like an oven. We were provided with a large fan though. Other than that it was a lovely building and the staff were great.”

“Stayed for 3 nights. Parking at the rear always available, From 'check in' onwards the staff were pleasant, helpful and professional, including carrying our bags to the first floor room. The double room was quite spacious, with it's own short 'hall' to the bath/shower room and door to the main hotel landing, so you enter into a short hall and not straight into the bedroom, nice touch. The room was clean, nicely set out, comfortable and well equipped. The only downside to the room was creaky……

“A perfect room for visiting Bath. The room was very large well decorated and very comfortable. The host Richard was a Joy very attentive to any of our needs and full of interesting stories. Breakfast in the dining room was something special complete with a spectacular dumb waiter.
We will certainly be back!”

“What a little Gem!
Easy to find, great instructions from the Host. Very clean and a super comfy bed. It was very hot whilst we were there but lots of windows which could be opened as well as a ceiling fan and table fan.
An absolute plus for me was a cafetière and really nice ground coffee !
About a 25 min walk down hill into Bath and a 10 min bus ride back up.
The only negative is the parking but we were able to park next to there church which had no restrictions and we left our car there……

"The hotel is an old building so we understand the facilities have been improved to update with the modern life. There is a lift but there are about 10 -11 steps up and down before I could move my luggage into the room. There are 4 steps of staircase before I could use the bathroom.
I had an accident on my first night stay 21 May 2026 2:40 a.m., I sprained my right ankle. I could not manage to go to the hospital with only one leg. I was so grateful the staff on duty on 21 May, came and helped me go downstairs with my husband. I must give a big "thank you" to this kind gentleman.
I suggest a wheelchair should be added in your hotel to move those in need. Ramps would also be helpful for visitors moving their luggage in such an old building."
"Convenient, near to the city centre and the bus terminal. Not good choice for family, especially about the bathroom setup. The shower is fixed on the wall, while the sink is too high for kid"
