“Lovely hotel, friendly staff and good sized rooms. However there was broken glass on the balcony, the bunkbeds for the children wobbled ridiculous everytime one of them moved and then in the morning my son found someone else’s socks under his pillow so clearly they hadn’t changed the beds from the last guests. I cannot believe a hotel can do that. It’s a real shame as the feel of the hotel was nice and it is in a beautiful location.”

“Friendly staff but a bit slapdash at breakfast, rooms comfortable but south facing rooms need a portable aircon unit when warmer outside as the room was stiflingly hot despite window open and fan on. Excellent food which we could not fault for two nights dinner.”

“Everything was fine the lady works way to hard but is very dedicated to service. Breakfast was as I asked for. Service was prompt and quick. Coffee was French press at your table wondrous.”

“The breakfast was really good & the owners couldn’t do enough for even taking me to my sisters for a funeral. The price was great & I would recommend this guest house to everyone. Well done.”

“Shame previous owners let the hotel go to disrepair as it was a wonderful place. 100% respect to the new owner who is doing a great, time consuming task (without the help of planning department) to bring this Hotel/Restaurant back to the great place it was.”

“Almost a small self contained flat with living room, kitchenette and en-suite, friendly family owned and run in a quiet hamlet in the countryside. Generous portions of good food and a popular cozy bar. Great value for money. A good base for exploring the area.”

“We felt right at home from the moment we met Freda outside her lovely B&B. Our room was clean and cool, bathroom was very nice as well. Big TV and coffee & Tea on our table. The house itself is very charming and historic. The next day we were greeted by a hearty and delicious homemade breakfast by Freda, we even got to meet Gypsy! Her sweet doggie. We loved our short time in Dumfries, I hope we make our way back there again. We will definitely be staying at the Huntigdon once more”
