Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back! "I was confused by the reviews on this hotel as they swung from terrible to fantastic. I found the place perfect for my stay, while doing the coast to coast walk. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the bar was good, I didn’t require an evening meal. The room was clean as were the facilities. There is really nothing nearby, (by foot). The building is old and does need a lot of work, but this didn’t affect my stay. The room furniture was also a little ‘tired’, but my stay was comfortable."
