“Check in was easy and efficient. The room was all that could be expected, plus a few extras. A jar of a variety shortbread biscuits was a surprise along with an extremely varied options for hot drinks, i.e. Horlicks. A bowl of fruit was also an unexpected delight.
The bathroom was well appointed, with shampoo, soap etc in pump pots.
The bed itself was supremely comfortable with more than sufficient coverings. A large fan completed the array of convenience items, really handy with recent weather……
“Comfortable/clean room with a great view. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Great location close to the train station and central Hexham. The pub downstairs had good beer as well.”
“Lovely room with jet bath and tv in bathroom nice chill with glass of wine , breakfast was piping hot and delicious, lovely friendly lady waiting on in dining room .”
“Excellent staff very kind and hospitable and very nice pub food and breakfast.
LargeTV screen to watch the World Cup and BBC I player to catch up on the highlights, all good.”
“Unfortunately our room had a large cooler ( for keeping cellar , drinks? Cool) outside our room window, no manager to speak to but girl on the bar rang them about turning it off but they don’t turn off ! So slept maybe 3 hours ? Also bed not very good felt like it was dipping on edge , Did speak to member of staff next morning she was very nice but again no management, luckily it was just the one night . The good points the staff were lovely, room ( ignoring cooler) was nice & clean & the……
“I had a very bad experience with this hotel, it’s not a hotel, it’s not 4 star, there isn’t breakfast, no wifi and the owner doesn’t care.
The rooms are not actually attached to the bar/restaurant downstairs so upon check in I I had to ask around as I was not given any instructions, where the barman gave me the owners number and I just had to keep calling until she picked up the phone to tell me the code to the lockbox.
The room was fine but nothing special by any means. Breakfast is a room……
“Let’s start with positives, free parking was much appreciated, bar staff were friendly and pub was easy to find. Recent reviews mention good dinner and breakfast but neither were available yesterday. We had requested dinner and reserved a table on arrival only to be told there was no food left later in the day. A friendly bar staff member suggested several restaurants in the village and we did enjoy a lovely meal. There was no apology from the manager who was sitting in the conservatory. Our……
“Don’t bring a cat - there’s no room to swing it in the bedroom. And the TV was comically small. That being said, it was clean and tidy and the food excellent. Staff also very friendly.”
“Really nice location with views of North Tyne. A good base to walk from or explore further afield.
All staff were very helpful and we enjoyed the delicious breakfast.”
