The property was nice. Location was great. Host was very nice and helped us through our stay. House was clean except for the carpet which was heavily stained. However overall it was a great stay!!!

Summer vacation for Family during COVID!

Property is nicely located pretty much on the river. Easy to get to and everything works fine. Parking was plentiful as we had our adult children coming and going depending on their schedules.

Perfect vacation

What a great property! The two twin beds were perfect for our two children. The property came with everything we needed for meal prep. Loved the Easy access to the water with a boat slip. We enjoyed spending time on the river, grilling and chilling! Can’t wait to visit again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. I rated the description low because the furniture is different and the carpet…Everything was clean, except the carpeting, I even took a video. We were charged a small pet deposit that I gladly payed for our friends dogs, but when we arrived and opened the door, the first thing you see is all the stains from past pets…if you’re charging a deposit, you should be able to tell if a new stain occurs…sadly this was not the case here…we normally do not wear shoes in a home, not even our own, but at this home we didn’t take them off…in this case I did not reach out to the owners about the stains but will not stay there again because of it.

Great location on the river

The place could use a little TLC. As mentioned in other reviews, the carpet is heavily stained, screens are ripped on the patio, and the bathroom and bedroom doors are difficult to open and close. However, aside from the carpet stains, it was clean and had all the basics covered. We brought our boat and used the dedicated dock. At night, we boated to the Freezer (in the next canal over) and to the Monkey Bar, about 3-5 minutes away at idle speed. We didn't have any problems, and did not need to communicate with the owner; all the info we needed was in the instructions. It is a great location, and we would rent there again, though it would be nice if some of the maintenance items were addressed.

Nice location with some quirks

The location of this property is great for getting into the bay from the river quickly. Overall, we loved it. There are a couple quirky things visitors should know. It shouldn't stop you from booking but be aware. The boat dock is not a floating dock so it was underwater when we arrived. It is true to the photo and not right next to the house. You will need to slosh through a wet, buggy field to get to it. The house is bare minimum. Bring basics like salt and pepper if you plan to cook and a nut cracker if you want to crack crabs. The only other odd note was that there was NO mirror in one bathroom at all and the other has it behind you rather than above the sink. We laughed that the house must have been built for vampires, lol. Not deal breakers but worth noting. The house was clean. We did enjoy our stay.

Awesome Experience!

We have stayed at a lot of vacation rentals. This is without a doubt the best experience we have had. Anyone who has spent time on the Homosassa River knows how crowded and crazy it gets on Holidays. Memorial Day weekend was no exception. Picture being on 9 nicely manicured acres bordered on 3 sides by water, a large conservation area, plenty of parking for your vehicles, a place for your boat trailer, and a nice private dock for your boat! I put in at the public ramp at Macrae’s and within 12 minutes was at the private dock. Far enough away from the center of craziness, but close enough to get to it when you feel the need. Coming back from fishing and partying we did not have to jockey for a tight slip surrounded by boats, or worry about parking in tiny spaces. The home was very clean and well apportioned. The owners did a great job with the little things that you need, but most never think of. All of our meals were prepared on site. Either in the air-conditioned home, or downstairs under the house on the grill. Speaking of cooking the only items we needed to provide was the food. The pots, pans, china, and silverware were in pristine condition. The area downstairs is set up with a grill, a couple of nice tables and plentiful chairs. A nice breeze coming off of the river made it surprisingly pleasant while barbecuing. The little white Christmas lights create a relaxing atmosphere at night. You have a view of the river while sitting in the living room or on the porch, a view of the bordering well maintained canal while on the bedroom balcony, and a view of the conservation area while in the second bedroom window seating area. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner’s daughter Annette. She was finishing up preparing the house when I arrived. Within 5 minutes Annette made me feel at home and treated me like one of the family. Very personable and a great source of information. It’s the small things that take the stress out of a vacation. There was enough space, dog has a great time, with the big yard. Screened in porch very nice,privacy very good, carpet was stained in various spots, however since we had a dog and a baby with us. There was no concern.

Great location on the river

The location of this home is great! The boat dock was a little walk away from the home but still convenient and perfect for our 18' flats boat. The house could use a few updates but overall it worked for our family of 4. The first night we slept at the house we realized the next morning that the sheets were not clean on the beds. We did not think anything of it and just washed them in the morning since there is a full-size washer and dryer in the unit. What we didn't know and found out later was that the dirty sheets should have been the least of our concerns. Like I said the place needs a few updates and the cleaning between guests is far from acceptable, as for updates they should probably start with the mattresses. The toilet fill was extremely slow and the burners on the stove worked intermittently. I informed the property owners as soon as we left hoping they could get a few repairs in before the next tenants came to stay.

Great stay for the price...having the dock makes the stay much more enjoyable if your a avid boater or fisherman, only wish there was a path from the driveway over to the dock which would make transporting essentials easier and cleaner. Overall though we will return to this rental in the near future.

A few small issues, but all was taken care of easily. Had a great time!

Absolutely LOVE the place. There are a few small things but not crazy big issues and she took care of it right away, (misunderstanding with the grill and a few things could have been cleaner). But again, it was taken care of immediately and did not affect our stay. Would definitely stay again. Easy to deal with and very close to everything you'd want to do on the river. The only reason this listing didn't get 5 stars is for the small issues but overall WELL WORTH the stay!
