Located in the rugged terrain of central Arizona, 6,412 feet (1,954 meters) above sea level, Show Low is a superb location to explore the great outdoors. Head to Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Park on the city’s northern border to hike the trails and fish or kayak in the lakes. During the day watch for raptors soaring overhead and at night watch the starry Arizona skies from your campsite. For a different way to enjoy the trails, try taking out a mountain bike or riding a horse. Show Low is well connected by bus to many of the nearby towns, so it’s easy to explore more distant trails. Pinetop-Lakeside, 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Show Low, has one of the world's largest stands of ponderosa pines. In winter, visit one of the most popular ski areas in the western U.S. at the Sunrise Park Resort, located about 34 miles (55 kilometers) south of Show Low.

Golfers can spend their time at two of the finest public golf courses in the state, while families will enjoy the Show Low Museum in town. Find out about the city’s Mormon past and discover how Show Low got its name. If you are planning to camp, be aware that winters in Show Low are cold. Heavy snowfall is common between November and April. At this time of year the landscape becomes a pristine winter wonderland.
