Foundation Theatres Pty Limited owns and operates both the Sydney Lyric and the Capitol Theatre in the inner city. Whether it is with a Broadway theater production or musical or a classical or pop concert, the Sydney Lyric Theatre has provided a podium for actors and musicians since 1997. Coincidentally, the auditorium can seat up to 1997 guests as well.
Shows can last up to 3 hours, but the 20-minute intervals allow you to purchase refreshments at the bar. You can’t bring in your own food or drinks, but there are several bars to choose from.
The box office is part of the Stalls foyer and you can go there up to 2 hours early to collect your tickets. You’ll need identification and the credit card used to purchase the tickets if you didn’t opt to receive a mobile ticket on your phone.
Since the Sydney Lyric Theatre is part of The Star Sydney casino complex, you can easily make it a night out and also visit the spa or one of the venue’s fine-dining restaurants, or even spend the night.
Sydney Lyric Theatre is very centrally located. If you come by bus, get off at the Maritime Museum stop. Public ferries stop at the Pyrmont Bay stop in Darling Harbour, which is a 3-minute stroll away. Taxis can drop you off at the main entrance of the complex and drivers can get to the on-site garage from Pirrama Roador parking nearby in the Harbourside Car Park.
If you are staying in one of Sydney’s outer suburbs, buy a ticket for a trip on the Star Express, a chauffeured coach service. Or take a train to Central Station and transfer to the light rail, which stops at The Star Sydney main entrance, from where you can take the elevator to the Sydney Lyric Theatre.
