Four Mounds was delightful! It is a beautiful house decorated with vintage furniture, comfortable beds, beautifully tiled bathrooms, plush robes, and hosts Dee and Willow who gave us a history lesson about the property and its prior owners, and made the most wondrous breakfasts each day before we began exploring Dubuque.

We loved our stay at Four Mounds. The house was fantastic, like stepping back in time. The entire house is decorated in arts and crafts style furnishings. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed sitting outside, listening to birds, watching eagles, and looking at the river.

What a beautiful place to stay, nestled along the river. You would never know that you were so close to a city. We were only there one night and had to leave early the next day, so we didn’t interact with anyone or have breakfast. If you like older homes with creaky floors, this place is for you. So much character! There are (2) homes to book. We stayed in the Grey House.
One thing to note is the narrow drive to/from the property. It is wide enough for one car with a few places for the exiting car to pull over to make room. Definitely a tight squeeze!

Everything was absolutely amazing and beautiful. The inn keeper was so communicative and made sure she gave us the history of the property while we ate our delicious breakfast. I wouldn’t have changed a thing and am beyond happy I chose Four Mounds over any mainstream hotel.

Our stay at Four Mounds was very pleasant. Our room and bathroom were extremely clean and comfortable. The provided amenities were very ample. You have to text if you need more towels, etc. The only drawback for us was that we were in one of the room, not a suite, and there was no TV in the room. I don’t believe this was mentioned at any time before booking or check-in. We may not have booked if we had known because my husband really enjoys TV in the evening. Otherwise, the property was beautiful and charming, and we enjoyed our stay. A TV in the rooms would be a nice, welcome addition.
