Did not even stay the night. Ended up driving home and coming back to Madison the next day. First off: thought I booked a room with a jacuzzi. The man at the desk told me Expedia didn't have access to book those rooms. He did say if we gave him directly another $40 he'd switch it for us. It was super sus. Also the room looked nothing like in the pictures on Expedia. I should've noticed none of the room pics matched. I just figured they were taken at different times. The room we were put in was FILTHY! I'm usually more than willing to let a few stains slide. But this place was out of a cliche horror movie. The whole building had a funky old milk kinda smell. The sink, tub, toilet, ceiling, and outlets were covered in water damage, rust, and mold spots. The sheets had several suspicious stains, and I'm not trying to get bed bugs from a one night stay. Lastly, I go to East Madison all the time for shopping, food, etc. I've never felt unsafe there. I was pretty shocked at how incredibly sketchy this place made me feel when it was walking distance from my usual hotspots. The way people were looking at us, with one guy even following us around was sending off all kinds of warning signs in my gut. Was just supposed to stay there after seeing a show so we wouldn't have to drive the hour home and back the next day to celebrate my birthday. That was exactly what we ended up doing.

Excellent for the price. Beds are comfortable, and room temperatures are easy to manage. Not the best smelling quarters, and the staff didn't either our request to empty trash/make beds. But vending machines are easily accessible. Plenty of places to eat around at the premises.

The location was prime for travelers. Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area. Hot coffee in the lobby. Quiet atmosphere. The security lock fell on its own accord, but management fixed it right away. I saw no elevator to get upstairs. Had to haul my luggage. The managers forgot I was a guest, so they aggressively stopped and interrogated me on my return from a 13-hour work shift. Kinda glad they don’t allow anyone to roam into the hotel, but did not appreciate the treatment after so long a work shift. Would recommend if everything else was booked.
