The enemy was partly kept out by inundating the land outside the defense line. The invention of the airplane was a real spoiler for military strategists...

"Small place with crazy stairs, but it was clean and absolutely esthetic Amsterdam. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the ritz Carlton, but man is the location amazing! Perfect location and was only a 5-7 minute walk from Amsterdam central. The neighborhood is amazing and how could you ever be mad in the most beautiful place on earth? The hotel was close to all the restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping that Amsterdam offers. It’s an amazing place and madeesh, the hotel operator (owner?) was super laid back, helpful and incredibly friendly! "
