Beautiful resort, but serious hygiene concerns We stayed at Viva Azteca for two weeks and had a mixed experience. The resort is beautiful, the beach and location are fantastic, and most staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, we had serious concerns about hygiene. After returning to our room one day, we found a brown, foamy and unpleasant-smelling substance on one of our electric toothbrushes. We reported it immediately, but only after repeatedly following up were we told that nobody knew what had happened. We no longer felt comfortable using the toothbrush and had to buy a new one. On another occasion, a dirty cleaning cloth was left on our clean clothes. We also encountered undercooked meat on several occasions, including chicken. I experienced severe gastrointestinal illness during our stay. We cannot know for certain what caused it, but afterwards we avoided higher-risk foods such as sushi and certain chicken dishes because we no longer felt comfortable eating them. This is especially disappointing because we were considering Viva Azteca for a future vow renewal with our family and friends. After this experience, we are unfortunately no longer sure we would choose it. There is a lot to love about this resort, which makes these issues even more disappointing.

Valentin Imperial is a fantastic resort with superior cleanliness, rich cultural authenticity, lively entertainment, and a great dining policy. If they upgrade their liquor and craft beer program to match competitor standards, it would easily be a flawless 5-star experience. As tequila, mezcal, and beer drinkers, we were disappointed by the bar options. There was only one choice of mezcal available across the resort, with no upgraded options even for an extra charge. The tequila and beer selection felt similarly restricted. The brands categorized as "premium" here are standard base inclusions at comparable luxury resorts in the area (such as Impression Moxché or Atelier Playa Mujeres).

Our room with our private pool was amazing, spacious and clean. The bed was not as comfortable as I expected and I would have liked the lighting in the bathroom to be brighter. The spa was an amazing space but there were dead bugs everywhere, maybe a little maintenance before aging the amazing rooms might be a good idea. But overall a good vacation.

Lo mejor, el personal. Siempre dispuesto para atender los requerimientos. La comida nos pareció muy típica. Los servicios bien, algunas deficiencias en lo edilicio, sectores con mantenimiento a mejorar. El último día dejo de funcionar el aire acondicionado y no tuvimos respuesta al reclamo. No se reparo
