I normally choose RIU Hotels & Resorts because of the excellent customer service, amenities, food, and overall experience. I have stayed at many RIU resorts around the world, and I have also visited Mexico many times. I’ve always found the people in Mexico to be friendly and welcoming, which is why my experience at Riu Tequila was especially disappointing. The food was good, and I want to give credit to the restaurant staff, who were friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, my experience with most of the other staff was very different. I found several members of the staff, particularly at reception, to be rude and unhelpful. When I arrived, my room had not been properly cleaned. I noticed what appeared to be markings on the pillowcases from the previous guest, including the date they had left. I took a picture as proof. When I brought this issue to the reception staff, I felt that I was given a hard time rather than having my concern addressed professionally. The experience was frustrating enough that I eventually decided to put the “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door. Unfortunately, the housekeeping issues continued. On one occasion, dirty towels were simply folded and placed back instead of being replaced. I also encountered two cockroaches in my room, which was extremely unpleasant and concerning. That said, I do want to mention one positive experience: the Neon Party was great! It was a lot of fun. Overall, I’m very disappointed because I have normally had wonderful experiences
