Abendessen ausgezeichnet ,in schönem Ambiente serviert. Frühstück am Freitag Morgen etwas kärglich, am Samstag Morgen deutlich besser.

Far from the madding crowd!

We stayed here for one night in late September, en route to Northern Portugal. Although off the beaten track, quite easy to find, almost on the border with Portugal. Very tranquil, thick stone walls, small windows, polished wood floors, very considerately and sympathetically restored from the original convent and modernised for today's traveller, but keeping the character of what the building once was. The staff were friendly enough and almost conspicuous by their absence, being a little thin on the ground. Hotel, with plenty of free parking is within a short walk from the centre of the very small town. The bedrooms are quite dark due to the small windows, but the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu in addition to a 'menu del dia' with a reasonable wine list and all moderately priced - though you don't have much choice for alternatives in the town. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Quality break between Spain and Portugal.

Pros: Good quiet and interesting building. Pool after a hot drive!
Cons: Out of season, limited staff.
Location: Quiet and not overlooked. Away from the interesting historic town, but close enough that if you wanted to you could walk there. Character building.
A good sized hotel, big enough to have all the required facilities but not big enough to get crowded. Quiet, roomy accommodation just outside of a very interesting small town. Well worth visiting the Tourist information and then the old town before heading off (they can advise on free parking locations). The pool was lovely as, even in early June, the temperatures were about 33 degrees. The location is on the border of a National Park, plus just over the Portuguese border, so a good spot to take a break when driving to/from a place like Lisbon to Salamanca. If you like nature there is enough in the area for a few days. A popular walking area in cooler months. Reasonable prices and good quality in an interesting building. Highly recommended for a journey break.

Rundum zufrieden!

Pros: Die sehr geschmackvolle Inneneinrichtung.

Pros: parador quality
Cons: cold floors
It was a wonderful night spent in a historic place with the history all around. The restaurant and food were outstanding and the service excellent. To an English person the actual comfort of the bedroom was not 100% but a wonderful place to stay.
