Comfortable quiet room

Posted Sep 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
After a week in a noisy street in Toronto, a quiet, spacious room was just the ticket. It's location is good for your connection with the outside world, there's a Go bus stop right in front of the hotel ( providing you have the through bus to Newmarket!) The hotel is showing its age though. mould in the bathtub and dark splotches on the carpet. And no fridge. But the room was huge, the bed comfortable and there was no sound of traffic.Without a car, you are in a bit of a fix. everything is a minimum 2 minute hike - or further. and the best bar in town, which was right next door, has closed down too. Staff was great. very friendly ahnd helpful. Breakfast was a sad affair of toast and jam, and muffins. milk, juice and coffee. Bring your own cheese, ham or fruit. and they don't mind it if you do.

No restaurant or bar lounge as advertised. Old and run down.

Ok, close to my event

Posted Aug 31, 2013
This hotel was adequate. When I arrived to check in there was no one at the desk but I could hear at least 2 people in a back room chatting. I stood there for several minutes before someone came to the desk. There was no bell on the counter. I was given my key cards in an oviously re-used paper sleeve. When I arrived in the room I used the toilet which then ran for my entire stay. The door to the adjoining room was covered in some sort of brown drips that could have been cleaned off. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked great, the hot water was nice and hot. I would stay here again but not for $120 a night. I've been to motels that were much nicer for $60.

Serviceable

Very run-down hotel, beds reasonable but not comfortable. Although my room was reasonably clean, the rest of the hotel was shabby and smelled bad. I even found a dead bird in one of the stairwells. And "breakfast" was bad coffee and pre-packaged muffins. The only reason I booked this place was because I left it too late before a wedding and it was the only place with rooms left; now I know why! It's the only hotel in Aurora so I feel like the owner thinks they don't need to put in any effort, but I'm amazed that the HoJo company allows their name to continue to be on the door!

Suited our purpose for 1 night

Front desk very friendly & helpful. Very accommodating for an early check in since we were going to a wedding & needed to dress for it. Hotel is in serious need of a makeover. It is very tired. Bed was uncomfortable. Shower head not working properly. Since it is the only hotel in Aurora Ontario the company should spend some money on it.

The advertised breakfast that we were looking so forward to was very disappointing.

Conveniently on Yonge Street, the Mother Road, in

Pros: Location on Yonge Street, clean, comfortable, reasonable price, helpful staff (I wanted a map of Aurora, and the desk clerk suggested two gas stations
Location: Conveniently on Yonge Street, the Mother Road, with gas stations near by. Also shopping centres in Aurora near by.
I just wanted a clean, comfortable room in Aurora close to a friend I was visiting. At a reasonable price. The Howard Johnson is conveniently located on Yonge Street, the Mother Road out of Toronto, so it is hard to miss.

Hotel needs a Reno badly. Should be a 80 a night not 140.

Hotel smells

Posted May 31, 2013
Pros: Quiet
Cons: It smells like wet socks
The whole hotel smells. I opened a window for some fresh air and there was no screen on the window. I don't think I will stay there again regardless of the allure of a lower price.

Disgusting

Posted May 27, 2013
Rotten stench outside of the elevator bay. Rooms were very dated and dirty. Dirty stained carpets. Dusty everywhere. Bed linens appeared clean but was questionable due to state of the rooms. Dinged up furniture. Room was cold and no heat control could be found. Was here for a family function but really felt like driving back home. Save yourself the $140 and stay some place else.
