Exceptional staff makes for happy vacationers

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Belair. Upon arrival we were greeted with a nice cold glass of wine and smiling faces. Suzy helped check us in and she was amazing! We had paid for a lagoon view but we were pleasantly surprised with an ocean view upgrade at no extra charge. The hotel itself is pretty small and starting to show its age. The a/c in the room could have worked a little better but was sufficient. However, we had no problem overlooking these small problems seeing as how the staff was so good to us and ensured we had an enjoyable stay. Maynor, our "chamber maid" does an exceptional job in cleaning your room and he goes above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable. Don't forget to take some time to lounge out at the very nice pool area. It was never too crowded and we easily found some chairs to soak up the sun on a consistent basis. Our poolside server, Maricela, tended to our every need and took the time to connect with us on a personal level, a nice touch. During our stay we went out on the beach late at night and could see a plethora of giant turtles digging in the sand to lay there eggs, how cool is that!! I literally cannot say enough good things about the staff, who make up for any shortcomings of the property itself. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. The hotel itself needs a little renovating but overall it's nice. Valentin, Diego and Enrique was very attentive with the food and beverage service at the pool. Overall, it was a good experience.

Relaxing stay in Cancun July 2-July 10 2015

Pros: Quiet, no kids, no pool partying, pure relaxation
Cons: clean up seaweed on beach in front of hotel so that you can go into water comfortably cash system not credit fix scale in lobby to weigh suitcases
Location: Accross the street is a liquor store and an eatery that has good ceviche and fish tacos City bus is 10.50 pesos Plaza Islas Plaza Kukulcan
PROS: Not too much noise or partying so its perfect when you really want to just relax and enjoy listening to the ocean. We were told no children under 16 were allowed in hotel, although we did see maybe 3 kids our whole 10 days, luckily these kids were well behaved and weren't yelling and jumping in the pool making splashes. Tea time everyday from 5p to 6p includes cookies, coffee and tea. Complimentary continental breakfast every morning 6am to 8am. Everyday a complimentary dessert( cookie or pastry) is delivered to your room. Cabana beds on beach were usually free and empty. CONS: There are no stairs to walk into the pool, only a ladder or jump in. I wouldnt recommend for anyone having difficulties using a ladder to get into the pool. They need a little bit more chairs near the pool. Since we were on vacation we took advantage of sleeping in but after 10am the chairs are taken. No access to ocean due to loads of seaweed on sand.There is hide at night so this leaves tons of seaweed on the beach. They are on a "credit" system for all purchases made in hotel. Therefore you leave a deposit and every time you purchase something you give your room# and sign for it. And of course when were checking out we were told to pay a purchase we did not make!!!!! When we told him to pull the receipts he said it would take a while. Finally he realized it was a charge labeled wrong. The lobby scale to measure your luggage does not work, so don't use it.... it took our money

Nice hotel for adults not far from downtown cancun

Hi there, My boyfriend and I stayed there from July 4-11th. It's a nice hotel. It's not too far from downtown cancun and other activities like dolphins etc. the hotel is more for ppl between 18-50. During the day there is s DJ on the pool and the music and games aren't so good for kids or seniors. The food in the hotel is a la carte. Makes you a little bit wait but it's worth it since it will be fresh cooked. Staff is really friendly. I would go there again at any time.

La habitación nos la entregaron tres horas tarde. La cerradura de la puerta no servía, tuvieron que quitarla. La puerta del baño no cerraba. El elevador servía solo a ratos.

Horrible Check In

We got to the hotel at 2pm. We were told that our room was not ready yet and so they told us we could go to the restaurant and come back at 3pm and they would have the room ready for us. After coming back at 3:15pm it was obvious that our room was not ready but the front desk staff would not acknowledge us. After waiting for half hour and seeing that the rooms were not ready and multiple people waiting on their room , the front desk staff left the area and hid behind the curtain of the back office. Their excuse was that the card reader was not working, so they could not give rooms out, but the consierge seemed to be ale to get cards with no issues for some of the clients.. It was obvious by now that our room was still not ready so they gave us another room, that the air conditioning did not work and it was not a deluxe room like we booked in our reservation. The new front desk person wanted me to pay an extra 23 dollars a night because if he gave me the room then his boss would be upset. I told him that I had checked in at 3:15 and it was now almost 6pm and I still had no room and that the hotel should take care of the customer when it was their issue and not mine. Finally got room by 6pm but the Hot water did not work all the time, you had to let the sink run to hit before turning on shower and hoping that it got hot. In the restaurant the waiter Jose came back to my table one night and said that I gave a good tip but cash would be better for him. What a joke .

Good price for a short trip to Cancun

The hotel is near the beach with an awesome view right outside our balcony. The front desk people are very nice and friendly but unfortunately the rooms need a little maintenance due to our door needed a new battery that it always gave us a hard time trying to get in. But all in all, the hotel wasn't bad at all if you just need to stay in Cancun for less than a week.

Pictures online are misleading-1 star hotel

Pros: Nothing - in bad condition, false advertising on pictures, this is not a 5 star hotel as advertised.
Cons: Everything - remodel the hotel.
Location: It is far from the shopping mall.
The place is not the same as the one in the pictures. The Bel Air Collections in Cancun is run down and needs remodeling. The building used to be Projects and they did minimal changes to make it a hotel. This is not a luxury hotel. I would rate this hotel a 1 star hotel. Additionally, I had booked my reservation with Expedia, to which I had paid a deposit and Bel Air wanted to charge me the full reservation (charge me twice for the deposit). Bel Air staff were not helpful in resolving the issue. Additionally, I had free continental breakfast included in my hotel, but when I went to get my breakfast, it was charged to my room - had to sign a receipt with the charges. When I asked why I was being charged, they told me that this was just a technicality and it would not appear on my bill - though it seemed odd to me and unnecessary. I eventually cancelled my reservation due to bad customer service, frustration with Expedia situation as Bel Air continued to want to double charge me for my reservation; and because of the bad condition of the hotel. I felt I was overpaying for this 1 star hotel.
