Apparently Relax Inn is under new management. Upon arriving, the sign out front said Rodeway Inn so initially we thought our GPS had misguided us. The guy at the front desk said the sign was on it's way. On Expedia, the hotel advertised a free continental breakfast which turned out to be a coupon for a breakfast sandwich at the local McDonalds. The rooms were okay but definitely needed some elbow grease and updates. I thought this room was overpriced for the quality but it was a holiday weekend so that probably explains the gouging. We were traveling on spur of the moment, so all the other area motels were either booked or would not rent for one night only. We attempted to check out around 7:30am but no one was in the office. A sign was hanging on the door that gave a # to call in the event of emergency. I would not stay here again if other places were available. The pool was health by the county health department. The front desk guy said it was due to a phone line not being present at the pool area but from the looks of the pool, I would not have swam in it anyway. The pool furniture was old, cracked and looked like it had been in the sun for ages. It is not a place I would recommend for any length of stay or for families.

Not as AdvertisedPosted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The comfortable bed and nice view from balcony.
Cons: Provide breakfast at motel. Fix the TV. Have staff available around the clock.
The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and adequate, the view from the balcony was nice. However, the motel is definitely not as advertised. First of all, the sign outside at the bottom of the hill says Rodeway Inn not Relax Inn, and finding it was rather difficult without our GPS. They do not provide any breakfast, and I could not get the TV in our room to work at all. We were only there for one night to sleep, so it was sufficient for our purposes, but I would not recommend it over other accommodations. Staff was not available all the time. I feel like we should have gotten a discount or partial rebate for our stay.

Clean but in need of repair.Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: It was clean.
Cons: A Lot
Our first room the sliding glass door would not lock. We were moved to another room and the sliding glass door was open but would lock but not very securely. Alarm clock didn't work, fridge didn't work, hair dryer smelled like a house afire and the spreads had holes in them but seemed to be clean. The steps going up to the rooms were metal and concrete and you could see thru the rusty holes in the steps. Continental breadfast is no longer served at the hotel so we were given a coupon for a breakfast sandwich at McDonalds down the road.

great viewPosted May 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
The name is now Rodeway, was confusing. The desk clerk couldn't find our reservation at first. Never asked for ID or did I have to sign anything. Very unprofessional.

HorriblePosted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Horrible location, looks like it's falling off the mountain. When we got there, we found out the reservation wasn't made, even though I had an online confirmation. The staff was rude and forgot to give me back my driver's license after making a copy of it. When I called about the license apparently only one person could handle it and they were never there. I called 3 times about it and was told to call back each time. It took a week to get my license back, and that was only after I drove there to get it. Also, the hotel seems to have two different names. The sign says Rodeway Inn, but online it's called Relax Inn.

actual name different than on Hotels.comPosted Apr 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
it was what i expected, my room was very clean, my only issue was that the hotel name had changed, manager said about 3 months ago, so we thought we were lost to see the name Rodeway inn on the sign! i think that should be updated!! overall id stay again!

Too far from the sights and casinoPosted Apr 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
Took 35 minutes to get to the casino. Felt dangerous riding along the mountain at night. Did not have any professional people at front desk. The overnight clerk was polite but did not speak english. Was good for a one night stay but I will not go again, mainly because of the distance.

better than expectedPosted Mar 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
The view was 4 star. Service and comfort were better than expected. It's a great value if you're in the Waynesville area.

nice, affordable hotel in the mountainsPosted Jan 21, 2014
Pros: The location, view, staff, price and comfort.
Location: Cataloochee Skiing is really close and convenient. There are lots of places to eat nearby. There are local diners and also fast-food places.
It was a very pleasant stay. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds were comfortable, the shower pressure was good. We had a balcony with a good view of the mountains. It's in a very convenient location close to a lot of food places and shops. We stayed here after skiing at Cataloochee and it was pretty close to the slopes. It's a great hotel for college kids on a budget!!
