“A Break in Chetumal”

Stayed here for a few nights to treat my partner to a few nights of relative luxury after 3 months living in a shack on the beach shared with 6 people. We had a great time just chilling out, hotel facilities were as they stated and the service was excellent, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is very central making it quite easy to wander around town, enough to do for a few days with the museum and finding a few small eating places, probably the best named of which was El Vaticano! Great seafood great sevice and cheap!!

“Good business hotel, good food, one of the best in Chetumal”

We stayed here for one night as a jumping-off point to Belize. It should be noted that this hotel is in the center of Chetumal, which is about 20 minutes or so from the highway down to Belize. They are working on a bypass to Belize from just outside Chetumal so you won't have to go through the bordertown. The hotel was on par with any average business hotel. It is one of the nicer hotels in the city and has the cultural museum right across the street. Also, there is a nice local eatery right out the back of the hotel just across from the parking garage entrance. Wifi access required a password that I wasn't able to understand from the front desk, but I managed to pickup the restraunt's unsecured connection. Ordered roomservice and it was exceptional, cheesburgers/fries/7-ups, I think it was like 180 pesos or something. I'd recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Chetumal or on their way elsewhere.

“Just across from the Chetumal Maya Museum”

An over night stop from the bus from Playa del Carmen to the water taxi from Chetumal to San Pedro, Belize. We enjoyed the Maya museum, just across the street from the Holiday Inn.

“Anice place to stay for a night”

Was looking for a place to stay overnight between the bus down from Cancun and the waterjet to San Pedro, Belize. The hotel was perfect for that. Good location, comfortable old-fashiond room, reliable internet, nice restaurant. The pool and courtyard are picturesque. The gym is small, has old decrepit equipment and is poorly ventialted/hot but that was not why I chose this hotel. The hotel is located on a main street a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute cab) from the Belise Water Terminal (Municipal Pier) and a 10 minute cab from the Ado Bus terminal so its very convenient for an overnight when your transfer requires it. The Mayan museum is across the street along with a local market which let me pass some time between the bus and boat. Checkout was efficient and they allowed me to stay in the room without charge for an extra hour and a half after normal checkout so I could wait there rather than at the boat dock. Overall, a very nice way to spend the waiting time between bus and boat.

“Best feature is the inner courtyard.”

A very pleasing inner courtyard with a small pool is a lovely feature of this hotel. Staff was courteous, friendly and helpful, when a mistake became apparant on our booking and subsequent billing they corrected it immediately with many apologies. The buffet breakfast was excellent and very enjoyable. The Mayan Museum is close by and well worth the time to visit

“Comfortable hotel and convenient location”

Comfortable enough for a one night stay and a good buffet breakfast. Not the cheapest hotel around but didn't feel we were ripped off. 10 minutes walk from the sea. Outdoor pool made for a refreshing swim following the bus ride from Belize!

“Exactly what I was looking for”

The Holiday Inn in Chetumal was exactly what I was looking for: central location in the downtown district within blocks of the not too miss Mayan Museum; busy daily market, downtown shops and the magnificant waterfront boulevard that stretches for many kilometres. The restaurant food and service were great : the swimming pool inviting and the staf friendly and accomodating. A quaint reasonably priced; 3 star hotel.

Nothing fancy fro a 1 night only, the water pressure at the shower was very, very, very poor but the room was confortable. As I said only for 1 night is ok.

“Not Impressed”

The pool and courtyard area was beautiful, clean and well maintained. But the room had a horrible smell. It was so bad that i could not sleep. It smelt of something dead. The air conditioner barely worked. Room service never made it to our room. I would not stay here again. Not even for a night. I will go back to Chetumal but will stay some where else. The short trip to Belize, Free Zone, was fun. Chetumal was a clean and Beautiful city and we will return, but we will find another hotel.
