    Pocket Guide: Seychelles

If you are ready to experience the beautiful and relaxing island life in Africa, make your next stop on one of the 115 islands of Seychelles. Located just to the northeast of Madagascar and to the south of Mauritius, Seychelles is a rare gem in the Indian Ocean. You can book Seychelles hotel packages on one of the three largest islands, called Mahe, La Digue, and Praslin, in order to take advantage of great rates during your stay.

Touch down in Seychelles’ largest city and capital, Victoria, located on the island of Mahe. Named after the governor of Mauritius in the 1700s, Mahe is the most developed of the 115 islands in the Seychelles. Here, you can practice your French, tour the charming streets and historic colonial buildings, and pick up local wares. Victoria has the uncanny ability to be the capital city and the center of commerce while at the same time feeling like a charming town. While you are there, visit the city’s famed outdoor market to pick up custom jewelry and wares and to visit one of the city’s many special botanical gardens. You will find some of the best hotels in Seychelles in Victoria, including resorts and city apartments, but reserve your rooms early to get the top Seychelles hotel deals.

While you are on Mahe, look for a cheap hotel deal in Seychelles near Morne Seychellois National Park. This magnificent park takes up nearly a quarter of the island. You can see lush tropical foliage, native birds, and gorgeous views with every step along winding walking trails throughout the park. Reserve a day to make the most of the park. And look out for the most famous of all Seychelles neighbors, the giant turtles.

After you leave Victoria, take a boat ride over to La Digue, where you find simplicity and serenity. La Digue is the less frequented of the main islands and offers visitors Seychelles hotels that are quaint, charming, and often family-owned. Because the island is not as traveled as the other main islands, you may be able to secure cheap hotel deals in Seychelles by staying on La Digue.

You will experience freshly prepared Seychelles’ cuisine at great prices at one of the many local restaurants, take in the unique French folk music, and stand in awe of its postcard-perfect cliffs and picturesque beaches. Seychelles offers visitors a unique blend of African culture and French language at a discount. A cheap Seychelles hotel deal can exceed your expectations of quality if you make your reservations early.

    "Beautiful location."
Overall a very enjoyable holiday, hotel in a lovely location right on the beach. Rooms in junior suite was spacious, clean and with a nice big patio area with garden furniture. Food and dining experience was very good. Only a few gripes and these were checking in and checking out procedures. Both these involved long periods of waiting to get into rooms at the beginning of the holiday and having to leave rooms at the end of the holiday with another long wait in the small departure lounge. Also be well prepared for biting insects and mosquitoes at the hotel. Everyone seemed to get bitten, not just the chosen few.

"Attractive well designed hotel right on the beach."
First time in the Seychelles, this hotel lived well up to expectations. We had a lovely view from our room balcony over the Indian Ocean (well the foliage had grown up a bit too much for a perfect view actually, but it did not detract from the peace and quiet. The adjacent room's balcony also overlooked ours, but did not prove a problem). No pool, but the beach was literally on the doorstep. The Cote d'Or village was also a delight, with plenty of facilities (Cash Plus exchange, ATM (only into rupees), mini markets in which the beer and water was much cheaper, and of course restaurants). On the final couple of days we hired a car (E50 per day) and explored the whole island, but concluded we had landed in the right place. Buses are very cheap but vary in reliability. Trips across to La Curieuse island, where the giant tortoises are located and where an excellent barbecue is provided for lunch and with snorkeling in the afternoon, all for E65, is well worth doing, but beware the beach-boys' tricks. In addition you have to pay SCR 200 for the landing tax, and if there are two of you you are likely to hand over a SCR500 note. Instantly there is a change of subject in the conversation and the SCR100 change does not materialise. They will acknowledge the debt if challenged, but are adept at making up excuses for not having it on them. Get the boy's name early when relations are good, and then later take a photo of him and threaten to go to the police. It works wonders!

"Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful location"
My wife and I recently spent 10 nights at the Constance Lemuria , Praslin Island , Seychelles. The hotel has its own golf course and is beautifully landscaped. The rooms are also very quiet and very comfortable and spacious. The only sound you can hear at night is the ocean lapping on Anse Kerlan. Members of staff , in particular the diving staff and boat house , are very friendly , helpful and totally professional. The diving centre is good and the diving is decent with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The only criticism that we have is that the prices for food and drinks are very high. We did not book half board up front , but paid an extra 68 Euros each per night for half board and on top of this which does not include drinks or special menus such as the lobster , prawn or beef menus. The food was of a good standard , although the buffet is not spectacular except for the Asian night which was very good. Lunch is expensive for what is on offer.
