OK, but ask what food is home-made first.Posted Aug 13, 2013
Pros: breakfast and 'home-made' apple pie.
Cons: main meals. Not even freshly made chips and mashed potato - is that a crime?
Location: Great location, absolutely beautiful.
The pub itself was what you would expect from a traditional English pub. The food was very average, the chips which are difficult to get wrong were hard. The food was bought in microwaved food, which is only ever going to be average at best. Saying that we asked what home-made puddings they had - apple pie and that was lovely. Instead of micro food, they should have less choice but home made quality food and they would be full all year around. The breakfast was good, the rooms were just ok. The accommodation did what it said on the tin, but for the same price The Hilton in Bristol was in a different league. Maybe not to compare the two. The food is the main obstacle to a better experience. There was only one choice of red and white wine, surely not in a pub. Think of the mark up on bottle of decent wine?

Clean and comfortablePosted Aug 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, all local produce. We had dinner in the restaurant and the steaks were also delicious and local.

Horse blanket hell.Posted Jun 9, 2012
Pros: It was clean
Cons: Noise, bad smell, bedding.
Location: Very quiet and attractive
The good bits: The staff were friendly, the room spotlessly clean. The not so good bits: Maybe I have stayed in too many modern hotels but I expect a duvet not a sheet and a horse blanket on my bed. The pub and hotel seemed empty despite being a half term and bank holiday weekend. The bar was dead. The food: was overpriced and only average, we had a homemade meat pie which came with dubious mash (I believe assisted with a dolop of powdered mash.) and microwaved frozen veg. Ay a price of £12 I thought that was expensive for shoddy food. Breakfast was ok but stingy with one rasher of bacon and one sausage. The Room: Hall way outside our room stunk of burnt chip fat oil from the kitchen below thank fully not in our room. However we were kept awake by the drumming and vibrations in the room from the kitchens industrial extractor fans all night. Why they were not switched off at night I have no idea. So overall sadly we had booked for a romantic four poster room weekend but could not wait to get away and too our next hotel for a good nights sleep.
